๐ฃ Training Camp 2026 | Lake District
What an incredible 10 days in the Lake District! ๐๏ธ๐
Our team worked incredibly hard throughout camp, with plenty of time spent on the water at the beautiful Lake Windermere. The conditions couldnโt have been better, giving everyone valuable experience of training on open deep water as we prepare for the National Regatta in September.
Across the 10 days, each team member paddled over 275 km individually! ๐ช๐ฃโโ๏ธ Thatโs an incredible amount of training and a huge achievement, showing the commitment, determination and teamwork from everyone.
It wasnโt all hard work on the water! On our rest day, the team swapped the boats for the hills, alongside plenty of classroom sessions to develop our knowledge and skills. ๐๏ธ๐
Camps like this simply wouldnโt be possible without our amazing coaches and helpers, who give up their own time to make it all happen.
And a massive shout-out to Piotr, our Team Chief, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and cooked an incredible 950+ meals over the 10 days! ๐ณ๐ฅ๐
275+ km paddled per person. 950+ meals cooked. 10 days of hard work, learning and teamwork.
A huge achievement for the whole team โ and now our focus turns to the National Regatta in September! ๐ฃโโ๏ธ๐ฅ

With schools starting back we believe there is no better time to try something new and get involved in a sport that keeps you active and outdoors. If your child is is looking for an adventure they could be the perfect fit for our kayaking club.
Weโre recruiting boys and girls aged 9-12 who want to learn and be a part of our team, while also being willing to get a little wet.
Kayaking is a great way for kids to become confident and gain important and relevant life skills. And at Glasgow Kayak Club they can do it all whilst becoming part of our strong and supportive community. ๐๐
With a group of experienced coaches (some of whom were paddling in these very boats just years ago) we can guarantee each child is given the same level of care and support that has lead to the growth of many of our paddlers from young kids to elite athletes and human beings ๐
๐Where? We are based in the Firhill Basin in Glasgow and paddle along the Forth and Clyde canal
The best part of it all is being based in Glasgow we can almost guarantee it might not be raining โ๏ธ (umbrellas recommend nonetheless)

Thereโs something special about being on the water before the world wakes up, paddling through the mist as the morning slowly comes to life.

๐ Throwback to the end of July! ๐ญ๐บ๐ถ
At the end of July, our very own Hannah made club history by competing at the Junior European Championships in Hungary.
This was the first time our club has ever been represented in the Canoe class at a Junior European Championships, making it a truly special milestone. Hannah put in a fantastic performance on the course, showing determination, skill and commitment throughout the competition.
Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of what Hannah has achieved. Representing your club and country on the European stage is an amazing accomplishment, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her.
Congratulations, Hannah โ we're all behind you! ๐

Summer at GKC wouldnโt be the same without our unforgettable residential training camp in the beautiful Lake District! โ๏ธ
The team is now on Day 4, with another 6 exciting days still to come.
This camp is about so much more than paddling. It gives our athletes the opportunity to develop their skills on the water, build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Every challenge, every session, and every laugh helps shape not only better paddlers, but stronger individuals.
We're incredibly proud of everything the team has achieved so far and can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings. Here's to six more days of learning, adventure and making memories!

๐ Huge shoutout to Signs Glasgow!
If you see a bright, branded minibus rolling around the city โ that's ours, and it's all thanks to the team at Signs Glasgow.
They've wrapped our club minibus with their top-quality branding, and honestly? You can't miss it. But for us, it's so much more than a wrap.
As a Glasgow-based business specialising in signs and display products, they could have chosen any project. But they chose to support us โ and that support means the world.
Here's the truth: without organisations like Signs Glasgow โ and so many other businesses who've believed in us โ we wouldn't be able to progress. We wouldn't be able to get better. Their small gesture creates a ripple effect that grows bigger and bigger, reaching every athlete, every session, every goal we chase.
This is a perfect example of how a little support goes a long way in making a huge difference.
๐ A massive thank you to the owners and the whole team at Signs Glasgow. We can't wait to visit them soon with a small group of our athletes to say thank you in person.
And stay tuned โ there are more businesses and organisations who've played a part in our minibus story. We'll be sharing more in our next post.
Until then โ if you see the van, give us a wave! ๐

British Marathon Championships โ Day 2 ๐ฃ๐
Today the team took to the water for Day 2 of the British Marathon Championships, with the focus firmly on the K2 races.
Thankfully, our paddlers were racing early, meaning they avoided the hottest part of the day.
A huge congratulations to Quinn and Rian, who are now U12 British Marathon Champions! ๐ฅ An excellent performance from Eoin and Matthew also saw them finish a fantastic 5th place.
A big thank you to the race organisers for delivering another brilliant event.
Now it's time for the team to make the 408-mile journey back to Scotland. Safe travels everyone!
