⚽ Finnart Reds 8–7 East Park

What a way to start the new season! ☔️⚽

A wet, cold morning and an early kick-off would normally have us wondering how quickly Finnart would wake up… but today was completely different. From the very first whistle, the boys came flying out of the blocks.

It took just 43 seconds to get the opener. A fantastic clearance from David over the East Park defence found Rosco, who kept his composure to put Finnart 1–0 ahead.

Finnart continued to create chance after chance. Dylan broke up play and found Rosco, who cut the ball back towards Lochlan, but the effort went wide. Brax then won the ball down the wing and released Lochlan, whose cross was cleared.

The pressure continued, with Rosco laying the ball back to Dylan in the box. Dylan struck it sweetly, only for the East Park keeper to produce a fantastic save.

But the second goal wasn’t far away. Hudson delivered a great cross for Rosco, who was through on goal. The keeper could only parry it out, and Dylan was there to pick up the pieces, firing home from outside the box to make it 2–0.

Finnart were playing some excellent football, but East Park weren’t going away quietly. After a period where Finnart weren’t closing down quickly enough, East Park found space for a long-range effort that Milo almost got a hand to, but it flew into the net to make it 2–1.

Then came another East Park attack. Milo made the save but couldn’t hold onto the ball, and East Park reacted quickest to level the game at 2–2.

A further failure to close down allowed another long-range effort, and suddenly East Park had turned the game around to lead 3–2.

But this Finnart team showed fantastic character.

Brax went on another powerful run down the wing and crossed to Lochlan, whose effort was saved. Hudson followed up, forcing another save, before Rosco reacted quickest to the rebound to make it 3–3.

East Park then regained the lead with another strike from distance to make it 4–3, but Finnart refused to panic.

Second Half

The second half started with some great football from Finnart. Dylan laid the ball off to Braeden, whose shot was cleared. Brax picked the ball up around halfway, drove forward and unleashed a fantastic effort to bring Finnart level once again at 4–4.

East Park then regained the lead after Brax was challenged at a kick-in. The ball fell to an East Park player who turned and shot, giving Milo little chance. 5–4 East Park.

Finnart responded with another excellent set piece. From the corner, the ball was played back to David, whose cross found Dylan. His shot was parried and came back off a defender before finding the back of the net for an own goal.

5–5.

East Park then hit again, with another breakaway ending in a goal after Milo’s glove couldn’t quite keep the ball out.

6–5 East Park.

But again, Finnart answered.

A great win in the middle of the park gave Brax the opportunity to shoot from range — and we all know what happens when Brax gets into shooting distance…

GOAL! 6–6.

Then came another moment of quality from Rosco, who produced a fantastic finish to put Finnart back in front.

7–6 Finnart.

East Park responded with yet another long-range effort to make it 7–7, setting up a tense finish.

And then came the winner.

Brax went on another brilliant run and Lochlan won a corner through his determination and hard work. From the resulting play, Brax finished what lichlan had started and found the back of the net to make it 8–7 to Finnart.

And that is how it finished!

🏆 Man of the Match

There was no individual Man of the Match award today — and for a very good reason.

With this being the first game back and the coaches tinkering with the team and giving everyone their spells on the pitch, every player contributed.

There were too many great goals, important moments, brilliant individual performances and players stepping up when the team needed them to pick just one standout player.

So today’s award goes to THE WHOLE TEAM. 👏👏👏

They showed character, battled right until the final whistle and, most importantly, found a way to get the result over the line.

Want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you too all the coaches who dedicate there own time to not only teach our children but help build there confidence, encourage there friendship and build them up to believe in themselves. Us parents see each and every one of you and truly appreciate your dedicate and passion for each and every child on that pitch. 💙🖤

Tough day for the whites despite a strong start. We went 1-0 up through a great individual goal from Noyan. Covered about 40yards and tucked it away. We found ourselves 2-1 down at half time. We lost a bit of belief in the second half and conceded a few goals however Jude was so unlucky hitting the post twice and the crossbar once. Certainly should have been closer than the 5-1 scoreline suggests.

Despite today this has been a really positive block for the whites. We have chalked up 4 wins, which for a team who really struggled in the previous block to get a win this is a huge well done to everyone! Take away from the block is to have more belief, focus and concentration when things are not going our way. Coming down from 4-0 down at half time to win 6-4 in one of the matches shows we have it in us and was a real highlight.

As we have now reached the summer break just want to, A huge thank you to all the parents who support week in, week out. Your encouragement from the sidelines makes a massive difference and is hugely appreciated by every child.

And finally, a massive thank you to coaches Ross and Ryan. Your time, effort, and patience with both players and parents does not go unnoticed — you are a huge part of the team’s development and success. 🏆🙌

What a way to finish the season!

The Finnart Reds went into their final match determined to “go out with a bang” — and while it was a hot, hard-fought game, that’s exactly what they did.

On a very warm day, the boys certainly felt the heat, with conditions almost making it feel like a pre-season tour of Boston with Scotland! Despite that, the team started with Milo in goal, Brax on the right, David on the left, Dylan in central defence, Hudson on the left wing, Aidan on the right, and Lochlan leading the line.

Park Black began strongly and showed some excellent football in the early stages. They had a couple of standout players who looked more advanced in their play, moving the ball confidently and causing problems through midfield. It took Finnart a while to settle and get to grips with their playmakers.

Early pressure told, and a loose clearance fell kindly to Park Black, who finished well past the helpless Milo to take the lead.

Dylan was then withdrawn after a tireless shift trying to shut down their main playmaker, with Braeden coming on. Shortly after, Aidan picked up a knock to the head, forcing a reshuffle. Dylan moved to the right, Lochlan dropped into midfield, and Braeden went up front.

That change proved crucial.

Dylan won the ball high up the pitch, drove forward with a brilliant solo run, and calmly slotted past the keeper to bring Finnart level at 1–1.

Park Black were clearly rattled and the game began to get more physical, with challenges and shirt-pulling creeping in from both sides. Finnart, however, stayed focused and went into half-time deservedly level.

Half-time: 1–1

A few strong words and tactical adjustments were needed, and Finnart came out for the second half with a much improved attitude. Mohammed came on to the left wing, and Aidan returned to the pitch.

The team immediately looked sharper, competing harder in midfield and refusing to be bullied out of the game.

The breakthrough came from a clever set-piece situation. Mohammed was fouled just outside the box, and while the opposition were setting up, he quickly slipped a smart pass through to the onrushing Aidan, who finished from a tight angle to put Finnart 2–1 ahead.

Chances followed, with Lochlan and Dylan both going close to extending the lead, while Mohammed’s introduction gave the team real energy and attacking momentum.

Further changes saw Braeden make way for Dylan, and Aidan replaced by Hudson.

Finnart then added a third goal through Hudson, sparking great celebrations from the bench and making it 3–1.

The game became increasingly competitive, with some strong challenges on both sides. David was even told to calm down after a robust challenge that took out both a Park Black striker and Lochlan — although the ball was there to be won!

Park Black tried to respond, but Finnart’s defence worked tirelessly as a unit to keep them out and limit clear chances.

The final moment came when Mohammed and Dylan both went in to ensure the ball crossed the line, with Mohammed getting the final touch to make it 4–1 and seal the victory.

Man of the Match

This was a difficult decision, as every player gave everything from start to finish. So instead of picking one individual, the award goes to the entire team — a full squad performance full of effort, determination, and character.
