Finals Week at Kirkintilloch Bowling Club πŸ’›πŸ’™ has now come to a close and day 7 saw 3 Titles decided at the club. Thankfully all the finals were completed before the weather caught up with us. Some of today's finals saw a number of members win their 2nd and even 3rd finals of the season.

Gary Millington and Andrew Zaleski took the Gents Ballotted Pairs champions defeating David Wilson and Scott Campbell in the final. A double of the Gents Championship and Ballotted Pairs for Andrew and a Triple of the Walker Trophy and both pairs titles for Gary.

Ian Macleod and Graham Rintoul won the William Grants Gents Senior Pairs with victory over Alastair Macleod and Val Pearson. A 2nd title for Ian after the Gents Nomination Triples.

And finally our Ladies Champion for 2026 is Kirsten Hall beating Kate McKay to retain her title she won in 2025 and also do the double of Ladies and mixed singles Championships this season πŸ†.

Well done to all our winners and Commiserations to all the runners up in our club finals this year's.

Thanks to all the ppl who made finals week such a success. A great effort goes into setting up the green and the club as a whole for this week and all help is greatly appreciated. Also thanks to markers, board markers, bar staff and everyone who came to watch on the day.

Day 6 of finals for 2026 has came and gone. Once again the 🌞 was shining with perfect conditions for bowls. Today we saw both our nominated pairs competitions decided.

In the ladies event Anne Burke and Jemima Campbell went into an 8 shot lead but Kate Mckay and Paula Runciman aided by a score of 6 in one end slowly found their way into the match and would end up winning 20-12.

The men's event was a much closer affair. Gary Millington and David Murray raced into a 10-1 lead but Alastair Hall and Ian Macleod would claw that lead back including a 5 to take the lead at 11-10. However Davd and Gary found some excellent shots at the right time to win 15-12.

Well done to our winners, Commiserations to the runners up.

Once again thank you to everyone who turned out to watch the support is much appreciated.

Our finals for 2026 will conclude tomorrow with our William Grant Senior Pairs, Gents Ballotted Pairs and our Ladies Championship. Everyone is welcome as usual and let's hope the rain stays away for one more day.

Day 5 of our finals has been and gone. Tonight's game saw Kenny Mcculloch beat Bill Potts in the final of the James Herd Trophy Gents Non Prizewinners.

I'n sometimes rainy weather Bill made an excellent start but a 4 in one end gave Kenny great confidence and he never looked back winning 21-7.

Our club finals for 2026 will resume this coming Saturday and Sunday the 29th and 30th of Aug.

Both sessions will kick off at 2pm. As ever all members, family and friends will be welcome to watch, and we hope weather wise it's as good as last week.

The support for finals week has been fantastic so far. This weekend will see 4 different pairs titles decided across our Ladies and Gents sections and of course we will find out who will be Ladies Champion for 2026.

So day 4 of our finals has come to end.

Tonight saw Gary Millington defeat Kenny Mcculloch in our Walker Trophy 45/65 singles final.

We also had the added bonus tonight of a fantastic semi final in the ladies championship between Kirsten Hall and Janice Grant which had previously been very unlucky with the weather.

Jancie surged into an early lead but Kirsten
would find her form in the 2nd half of the game and come back superbly to make the final.

Our Ladies Championship Final for 2026 will now be Kate McKay v Kirsten Hall .

Earlier on today Jean Blair and Jemima Campbell defeated Janet Cross and Suzanne Forsyth in the Ladies Ballotted Pairs final (photo will follow).

Congratulations to all our winners tonight and well done to all our players for getting to this stage. Also thanks to everyone who came to watch.

Our midweek run of finals concludes tomorrow Wed 26.08.2026 with our James Herd Trophy, Gents Non Prizewinners final at 6.30pm

Kenny McCulloch v Bill Potts

Once again everyone will be welcome.

We will also post details of the remaining 5 finals which will form our 2nd weekend of finals later in the week.

24/08/2026

We can now confirm the full midweek schedule for club finals in addition to the previously mentioned triples final which we have just reported on.

Tomorrow sees the Ladies Ballotted Pairs final take place at 3pm.

The 2nd session from 6.30pm tomorrow evening will see our 45/65 singles final between Kenny Mcculloch and Gary Millington and also the 2nd ladies championship semi final between Kirsten Hall and Janice Grant which had previously been delayed by the weather.
