Mickel Scottish Country Dance Club

Oh no last Monday at Mickel SCD Club tomorrow night 😞 I can’t believe how quickly the summer season has gone by…

We’ve covered a lot which I will post after tomorrow last night…

But now it’s for me to say thank you 🤩 to all the helpers we have that makes Mickel SCD club such a vibrant and fun place to dance:

- 17 people covering our teas and cofffees, some of them doing double or triple shifts 🥰🥰🥰
- Derek our webmaster, 👨‍💻, who always puts up the cribs for me every week
- Irene who covered a class for me as teacher 🧑‍🏫
- The staff at Clarkston Hall who sort out the PA system 🎤
- And of course everyone who has danced, laughed, joined the club, and this year donated cans 🚮 and plastic bottles so we can recycle them at Lidl and buy our teas,coffees and biscuits 🍪 leaving us more money 💵 to donate to charity 🎗️

What a busy August so far - 2 nights posting from Mickel SCD club sorry…

Great to see so many of you on the dance floor with over 45 dancers on both nights.

Still finding new dances to do with A Ship in Full Sail 🚢 and The Milky Way 🌌 being enjoyed. Up and Down Ben Nevis ⛰️ worked well last night and the favourites of Good hearted Glasgow and Posties Jig always get a good clap. We still need a bit of work on Dusky Dolphins 🐬

And yet again another new dance from one of our dancers - rightly titled A Pigeon in the hall - relating to a pigeon that did get into the hall at RSCDS Summer school last year!

Can’t believe it’s nearly the end of July - but don’t worry we still have August sessions at Mickel SCD club.

Few photos from Monday night. Everyone did really well and the Strathspey Pousettes looked great in Neidpath Castle and I could not resist a few Roy Clowes dances such as Shiftin’ Bobbins and fun and giggles with Lobster in the pot at the end! Together in Kippo is coming on nicely and Dusky Dolphins got us on our toes as the first dance 🤣 Next week I’ve not put it on first 😉

I went overboard with ‘its behind you dances’ 🤣having Glasgow City Strathspey and Best Set in the Hall. Still had to have a La Baratte formation in there with the favourite: Dragonfly. Finishing off with the popular dance The Longest Day - can you spot it? 👀🕵️🕵️‍♂️

Well we’ve been so busy at Mickel SCD club that we’ve not had time to post any photos from our lovely summer dancing! 💃 🕺

We love a wee La Baratte formation so you’ll notice it from the dance La Crème de La Crème. A few new dances like The Slingshot and Mair than Fifty, but a few regular and popular ones like Shiftin’ Bobbins and Scott Meikle.
