The Ice Climbing Competition season is right around the corner, and everyone is invited — whether you're aiming for the 2026/27 GB Team or just climbing for fun!

Here’s the deal:
🏆 3 Fun Events: Open to all abilities, experience levels, and nationalities.
🧗 Routes for Everyone: Top-rope and lead routes set progressively so all skill levels can enjoy.
🇬🇧 GB Selection: Counts toward trials for the 2026/27 GB Ice Climbing Team.

With over 30 well-bolted routes ranging from 4c to 8a, there's something for everyone, whether you're just starting out or you're an experienced climber looking for a challenge.

If you're new to outdoor climbing, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go in a safe, welcoming environment. Experienced club members will be on hand throughout the day to offer guidance, support, and belays, making it a great introduction to climbing on real rock.

With the good weather this week, there's no excuse to not be out climbing on real rock. Why not join the club at Polney Crag, Dunkeld for a day of trad climbing in the sun this Sunday?

Join us at Polney Crag near Dunkeld on July 19th for a day of trad climbing with the club.

Polney offers some accessible one and two-pitch routes covering all grades, in a weather oasis that seems to stay dry even when the rest of Scotland is wet!

Alongside a good spread of grades at the crag for leaders, there will also be plenty of routes to follow someone on as a second. There will also be opportunities to learn from experienced members with some mini ground-based workshops happening so if you're keen to look at gear placements and belay building this could be for you!

A very successful day at The Works… ☀️ 🌞

30 keen climbers joined us in the lake District this weekend with many it being their first time outdoor Dry-Tooling. A full day of swinging tools, pulling hard, sharing beta, and pretending our forearms weren’t completely ruined.

The weather actually played ball for once, so the BBQs came out at the crag before an evening of paddleboarding and swimming in the lake next to camp, followed by a well-earned pub dinner.

Days like this are exactly what the club is about... Great climbing, getting outside, trying something new and coming together to spend time with a great community of like-minded people.

Roll on more of the same tomorrow...

A sad day for the next generation of ice climbers.

Earlier this year, British athletes cand .ocarroll stood atop the podium at the Youth World Championships to claim their medals.

They, like many other young athletes in our sport, have grown up believing that an Olympic Games could one day be part of their future.

That future now looks different. Ice climbing will not be a part of the 2030 Olympics.

It's disappointing. No point pretending otherwise.

But one thing hasn't changed: the athletes, the competitions, the community, and the sport we all love.

So rather than spending the next few years looking backwards at an opportunity we've lost, we should focus on what comes next.

We need to improve our competitions. Develop our officials, judges and procedures. Build a larger athlete pool, with an even stronger youth pathway. Raise the standards of route setting, safety and professionalism. Grow the sport into what it deserves to be.

Professional. Respected.

The Olympic dream may be over for now... But the work has only just begun.
