So you’ve decided to ‘oil the chain’…
🤔 Cleaned the chain and cogs with washing up liquid
🤔 Liberally sprayed with water dispersant to remove water where your cloth can’t reach
🤔 All weather l**e applied, every link glistening
Perfect right? Not quite…
❌ The chain is still dirty because the washing up liquid wasn’t strong enough to remove the old lubricant
❌ The rear brake doesn’t work and is squealing due to the water dispersant being sprayed without adequate protection of the braking surfaces
❌ The all weather l**e lacks the kind of viscosity to ‘stick’ when applied liberally and should have been applied to each roller and the excess wiped away after a few minutes of letting it settle
Fortunately all these things can be sorted with the right products and some elbow grease (don’t put this on your chain either!)
👌🏻 Muc-Off Bio Degreaser
👌🏻 Muc-Off Drivetrain Cleaner
👌🏻 Muc-Off Didc Brake Cleaner
👌🏻 Muc-Off All Weather L**e
👌🏻 Muc-Off Disc Brake Covers
✅ Chain removed and cleaned with drivetrain cleaner
✅ Disc and pads removed and treated to brake cleaner and sandpaper
✅ Bio Degreaser applied to cassette and derailleur to remove excess l**e
✅ All reassembled, lubricated link by link (a real zen moment for me)
Shifting and braking performance checked during a test ride including bedding brakes back in
If you’ve had a slight faux pas when maintaining your bike, bring it in, there’s zero judgement (only oodles of education to be shared)
I will gladly show you how to get the best from your cleaning routine so you spend more time riding and less time drinking coffee with me!
