📱 Social Media Lead - Voluntary Role
Gala Rugby is looking for a creative, driven and enthusiastic Social Media Lead to take ownership of our social media channels and help bring the club to life online.
This is an opportunity for someone to put their own stamp on Gala Rugby’s digital presence - creating engaging content, showcasing what happens on and off the pitch, and helping us grow the club’s audience and profile.
The role is voluntary, but the successful applicant will receive a number of club benefits, including complimentary membership and club kit.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll have plenty of freedom to develop ideas and create content across our social channels, including:
* 🏉 Matchday content and coverage
* 📋 Team sheet graphics and announcements
* 🏆 Full-time results and match recaps
* 🎥 Photos, videos, reels and short-form content
* 🎨 Graphics and social media designs
* 🎙️ Player-focused content, interviews and features
* 😂 Fun, personality-led content from around the club
* 📣 Promoting fixtures, events and club news
* 💡 Developing new ideas to increase reach and engagement
* 📈 Helping shape and grow Gala Rugby’s overall social media presence
We don’t just want to report scores - we want to tell the story of the club.
Leading a small social media team
You won’t be starting from scratch or expected to do everything yourself.
We already have a number of fantastic volunteers who contribute to the club’s social media and content throughout the season. We’re looking for someone who can come in, lead and coordinate that group, bringing ideas together and giving our social media a consistent direction.
Part of the role will be working with those volunteers, identifying what content we need, sharing responsibilities and making the most of the different skills and personalities we have around the club.
We want someone who is happy to take ownership, but that doesn’t mean doing it all alone.
You’ll have support
The Social Media Lead will also be supported by our technical team, who help administer and manage the club’s social media platforms behind the scenes.
They’ll be there to provide support with areas such as account administration, access, platform management and helping to ensure our social media activity conforms with relevant legal, regulatory and club requirements.
In other words, you won’t simply be handed the passwords and dropped in at the deep end.
We’ll give you the support and structure you need, while giving you the creative freedom to develop the content and personality of our channels.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, reliable and full of ideas. You’ll be comfortable working independently while regularly engaging with players, coaches, committee members and the wider team of volunteers around the club.
You’ll also need to be comfortable taking the lead - coordinating other contributors, keeping content moving and making sure we’re consistently telling the story of what’s happening across Gala Rugby.
A good understanding of social media and what makes content perform is important. Some graphic design, photography, video or editing ability would be a big advantage, but above all we’re looking for someone who can spot opportunities, create content and make things happen.
This could be a great opportunity for someone studying or working in marketing, media, design, photography, videography or sports journalism, or simply someone passionate about rugby and social media who wants to build their experience and portfolio.
Make it yours.
There’s a huge amount happening around Gala Rugby every week - from matchdays and training to the personalities, stories and moments people don’t normally get to see.
We want someone who can capture that, create around it and show people what being part of Gala Rugby is all about.
If you’ve got ideas, creativity and the drive to take our social media forward - we’d love to hear from you.
