We had 7 ringers for our (1st for 3 months) monthly practice. We rang lots of Plain Bob Doubles with Barbara inside all the time to help prepare her for a quarter peal attempt at the end of the month. Derry rang the treble for plain courses and after a few attempts managed a 120 too; Derry also rang the tenor behind for some of the touches. Grace rang inside for plain courses of Plain Bob Doubles and then observation for a 120. We also did a bit of dodging practice (fairly easy on our bells) to help Derry get the idea ahead of him trying it on tower bells at some point soon.
It goes without saying, we had cake, biscuits, and lots of cups of tea :) Well done everyone, and great to have the bells rung again :)
Balnaferry Campanile
Balnaferry Campanile is (currently) the most northerly set of bells hung for change ringing on earth.

Due to family illness we've decided to cancel the proposed ringing in Forres this Sunday
We will not be having a practice in Forres this month (scheduled for tomorrow, Sun 14th June).
We had 10 ringers for this months practice including two ringing couples from England (Grappenhall and Great Milton).
We started with a plain course of Plain Bob Triples then progressed (in no particular order) to Kent TB Major, Grandsire Triples, Plain Bob Doubles (well done Grace on an inside bell), Grandsire Doubles, plain hunt on 8, Stedman Triples (sadly a fired out touch), Little Bob Major and half a course of Cambridge Surprise Major :o Lovely to catch up / reminisce with our visitors and thanks to Grace for the lovely gluten free Strawberry Cheese Cake 😋
Sadly we're not going to have a quorum tomorrow so the practice is cancelled.
Next month we have 4 visitors so that practice ( Sun 10th May) will definitely happen.
We had our monthly practice this afternoon with 9 ringers in attendance. We started with call changes on 8 for Sam, and then plain courses and an attempted half-hunt touch of Grandsire Doubles for Lowenna. Next was an attempt at Bourne Surprise Minor.. only managed a couple of leads sadly despite recent successes in Inverness/Tulloch. Plain courses of Plain Bob Doubles for Derry and then another attempt at Bourne.. sadly wasn't to be today. We had more call changes and a touch of Grandsire Doubles before 3 of our band had to head back to Inverness for service ringing. We finished with plain courses of Plain Bob Doubles for Derry and then a theory session for Derry ahead of the forthcoming SACR Training day next Saturday at Tulloch.
Lovely to see everyone 🥰
Unfortunately we won't have enough to make a viable practice tomorrow so we will cancel the practice.
Next scheduled practice will be Sun 8th March

Aurora Borealis is so bright tonight.. right over Balnaferry Campanile 😲🥰
We had 9 ringers for our monthly practice this afternoon. We started with tea/biscuits and eventually I dragged them upstairs for some ringing!
We started with call changes on 8 and then plain hunt on 5 with Annette on the treble (ringing one handed whilst holding Mareeka with her other arm👧), and then with Ros on the treble. We rang Grandsire Doubles with Lowenna on the 3 (firstly plain courses and then a 120, both with Lowenna ringing half hunt)😁. Next was some more call changes on 8 (Sam ringing 1 & 2), and then plain hunt with Ros on the treble. Grace rang the 2 for 4 courses of Plain Bob Doubles (no corrections required for the last 2 courses😊) and then some plain hunt on 7 with Annette on the treble, and Lowenna on 3. More plain hunt for Ros and then (as apparently I hadn't been challenged enough today) we rang a 120 of Plain Bob Doubles with Sam calling himself observation whilst I rang 4 & 5. We finished with 3 courses of St Simon's Bob Doubles (requested by Sarah).
Another fun afternoon and great to see the progress from Lowenna and Grace. Well done everyone.
Our next scheduled practice will be Sun 8th Feb.
As there wouldn't be enough ringers to make a practice in Inverness worthwhile tonight (too many people away or poorly) we had a practice in Forres - only 5 of us, but it gave us a chance to do a bit of theory and push Lowenna and Grace a little.
We rang plain courses of Grandsire Doubles for Lowenna and then after a caffeine fix and theory Lowenna rang the 3 to half hunt which went pretty well😃 Hot choc followed and then theory for Grace who then rang the 2 for plain courses of Plain Bob Doubles .. only a few little wobbles .. well done Grace😁.
For a bit of a laugh Sam rang 1&2 to plain hunt on 6 next.
We finished with more half hunt of Grandsire Doubles for Lowenna.
We will be having a practice on Sunday so Grace and Lowenna now have 3 days to work on their homework😄
