Forres Golf Course Greenkeepers

The darker mornings maybe starting to creep in but the sunrises are worth it. ☀️

It’s been a few weeks since we posted anything but with staff holidays over the last 3 weeks, it’s just been about keeping on top of the growth.

This week we’ve been up to

Usual course set up ✅
Spiking greens (8mm tine)✅
Verti cutting greens ✅
Tiding up around bunkers ✅
Soil and seeding tees and fairways ✅

11 greens done today Chris should have the rest finished before golfers are finished tomorrow. 👌

Over the next two days we’ve got Chris Pearson in aerating the greens with his air2g2 machine. His machine has minimal disruption to the surface and we will have the hole back in play as soon as he’s finished on each green.
We hope to stay out of everyone’s way but if he is working on a green can you please wait until he waves you on or pick up and move to the next hole.

Another busy week out on the course.

A very wet start to the week meant we finally had a weather window to get an application of granular fertilizer on to the greens.

This is to help the greens recover after a stressful month of tournament preparations where lots more double cutting and verti -cutting can put surfaces under much more stress than normal weekly maintenance routines.

This is vital in not only improving general plant health but also to help combat the chances of disease outbreaks which can be common at this time of year.(Anthracnose)

With the rain and the heat came another surge in growth so most of the week we had to focus on catching up with cutting and general presentation.

We also had a full senior open to prepare for mid week and with the Stables Cup coming up on Saturday and the Forres Mechanics golf day on Sunday all in all another full on week at Forres Golf Club .😁🏌️

This was the prize from our recent raffle fundraiser with all proceeds going towards a new irrigation water holding tank for our golf course.

That’s the last shift for us in the 2026 5 day open. I would just like to say well done to our small team on the course as they’ve done a great job this season and especially this week. 👏
