Wildbiome: lunch on the first day is winkles and salad.
It took a lot of time to extract the wee beasties from the shells and what looked like a really big pot full ended up only being 100g of rather gritty meat. I guess I should have purged them in non sandy water for a few days!

I picked up a new to me seaw**d last night and I think it is Polyides rotunda or discoid fork w**d. Not exactly a catchy name but quite a cool wee seaw**d 😃
It's so hard identifying small seaw**ds because most of the identity is tied up in literally microscopic details! So as I don't have a microphone it's a bit of a cursory guess made up of a mix of colour, distribution, size and shape.

I led a lovely group of folks on a seaw**d foraging walk yesterday, and I also popped back down the beach before the tide came in to gather a batch of seaw**d for myself.
Here is my drying method - a simple string above the fire, a woven tray, and my gathering basket. The seaw**d has dried over night and is now ready to pop in my stash of jars!
Come and join me on my next foraging walk on Tuesday 7th!

I'm running a Wild things foraging day tomorrow so I'm busy making oatcakes with dulse in to share. We will hopefully find something to put on them during our walk.
It's kind of hard to see what I'm doing because I'm off grid and working by candle and fairy lights on a wood stove!
