Food should be something you look forward to.

Somewhere along the way, “eating healthy” became synonymous with eating meals you don’t actually enjoy.

Dry chicken. Plain vegetables. Tiny portions.
Saving calories all day so you can “be good”.
Feeling guilty when you eat something you actually fancy. Inevitably binge on weekends with a below average take away.

Because food isn’t just fuel.

It’s enjoyment.
It’s culture.
It’s comfort.
It’s social.
It’s something we get to experience every single day.

You don’t need to dread your meals to make progress.

You don’t need to earn the foods you love.

I think we’ve made fitness far more complicated than it needs to be, has Instagram amplified this even more?!?

You don’t need to train 6 days a week, eat perfectly, hit 10,000 steps every day and never miss a session to be “healthy”.

Sometimes the most sustainable things are also the least exciting:

- Going for a walk because you need some fresh air.
- Eating a proper meal instead of trying to “be good”.
- Taking a rest day without feeling guilty.
- Doing 20 minutes instead of doing nothing because you couldn’t do an hour.
- Choosing the form of movement you actually enjoy.

Wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly.

It’s about creating a life where looking after yourself feels normal, not exhausting.

And honestly, I think that’s a much better goal.

Have you ever seen an Instagram post telling you that the reason for all of your problems is that you don’t have enough motivation?

Well, maybe we need to reframe that.

Because let’s be honest, it’s not that simple.

Motivation is often talked about as if it’s something we either have or we don’t.

But research suggests it’s a little more complicated than that.

Research into self-determination and physical activity suggests that feeling competent, enjoying what you’re doing, and having a reason for exercising that feels personally meaningful are all associated with being more physically active.

Which makes me think we should stop asking:

“How do I make myself more motivated?”

…and start asking:

“How can I make this something I actually want to keep doing?”

Maybe that means choosing a form of exercise you enjoy.

Maybe it means setting a goal that genuinely matters to you.

Maybe it means finding a community that makes you want to show up.

Or maybe it means making your training fit your life, rather than trying to fit your life around training.

You don’t need to be motivated every single day.

You need something that makes showing up feel worthwhile.

Another year older, and the ever-looming pressures of settling down and doing things in ‘traditional’ order are feeling less and less realistic.

I think I’m realising that getting older isn’t really about having everything figured out, and that, for a moment, maybe those things aren’t actually the end goal.

It’s about figuring out the kind of person I want to be, and having some adventures along the way.

When I grow up, I want to be kind.
Open-minded.
Curious.
Brave.
Someone who makes people feel comfortable being completely themselves.
Someone who says yes to the things that scare her a little.
Someone who keeps learning, changing and growing.

I’m not sure I’ll ever have it all figured out. Are we ever meant to??! Who knows. Maybe that’s the point.

Here’s to another year of becoming.

I don’t want fitness to just change how you look.

I want it to change how you feel about what your body can do.
Because believe me, it can DO SO MUCH!

To feel stronger.
To run further.
To lift heavier.
To move with confidence.
To understand your training rather than blindly follow it.

And most importantly, I think your fitness should fit into your life, not take it over.

Whether your goal is to get stronger, improve your running, feel fitter, build confidence in the gym or simply feel better day to day, your training should support your life rather than consume it.

That’s the kind of coaching I believe in.

Strong. Capable. Healthy.

Turns out, feeling good in your body and building a life you actually like is pretty chic x

We are official ultra marathoners 👑⛰️🌞

No words can describe how incredible yesterday was. I’m so blumming proud of us 💘

It was a tough day in that heat, so we kept things steady, not knowing how we’d feel in the later stages if we pushed too hard.

The mountain views just kept on giving, and the support from fellow runners, volunteers and spectators was unbelievable. I feel so lucky to have a body that carried me through 55km of trails.

We crossed the finish line with tired legs, a few tears (after a lovely man told us we were nearly there 🥹), and some rather impressive horsefly bites…

I think I might be in love with trail running 🌞

Super proud of you, Debi Coyne . You’re an absolute superwoman 👑
