PRE-SEASON PREP CONTINUES AT THE ’COBLE

The specialists from S&D Taylor Haulage and Knoxfield Estates have moved in this week to tackle repairs to the perimeter fencing, with the right kit for the job kindly supplied by Gammies Groundcare.

Another job off the list and another example of our sponsors, members and volunteers mucking in to keep improving Inchmacoble ahead of the new season.

Perfect timing too, with Ladies Day #1 this Saturday as the Gryphons welcome Glenrothes RFC to Inchmacoble for a 3.00pm kick-off. (Scottish Rugby)

There’s always something needing repaired, painted, cut, shifted or improved around a rugby club — and doing as much as we can through the skills, goodwill and equipment within our own club community helps keep costs down and standards up.

A huge thanks to S&D Taylor Haulage, Knoxfield Estates and Gammies Groundcare for getting stuck in.

Many hands make light work — and Inchmacoble doesn’t look after itself.

Massive thanks to everybody who rocked up for the club work party yesterday morning and got stuck in. 👏🏉

The team absolutely rattled through the to-do list and Inchmacoble is looking a whole lot more shipshape heading into season 2026/27.

Have a wee sneak peek 👀

A lot of the work was done using skills and trades already within the club — helping improve the place for everyone while also keeping running costs down and membership as affordable as possible.

The big ask now is simple: help us keep it that way.

Look after the place, clear up after yourself, give a hand when you can and encourage the folk who are putting the work in.

And if you’ve got a skill, trade or talent that could be useful around Inchmacoble — get in touch!

We’re a volunteer club, not a service provider. The place works because people contribute, muck in and take a bit of ownership.

Next chance to do just that: we’re helping with Ride the North car parking at Glamis on Saturday 29th August from 6.00am. We’re struggling a wee bit with that early start, so if you can help fill the morning shift, give us a shout. 🚴‍♂️☕

Huge thanks again to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning. ❤️🖤

🏆 COMMITTEE APPRECIATION AWARD – LOUISE DENHOLM 🏆

A huge Strathie thank you to Louise Denholm, recognised by the Committee for the contribution she has made over the past three years.

Louise has consistently been willing to get involved, help where needed and support fundraising activity — most recently selling programmes at the Glamis Scottish Transport Extravaganza.

But this award is about much more than one event.

Louise represents the spirit that keeps a volunteer club going. It’s getting stuck in, helping others and understanding that the job isn’t finished just because the game, event or activity has finished.

It’s staying until the post protectors and flags are in, the kit is away, the rubbish is cleared, the grass from boots is swept up and, yes, even the seagull poo is cleaned up if that’s what needs done.

It’s also about assisting Gus and the many other folk who work quietly behind the scenes, often doing the jobs that nobody notices until they haven’t been done.

Those contributions are absolutely vital.

As we head into a new season, it’s worth reminding ourselves that Strathmore is a volunteer-based club, not a service provider. The club works because people contribute their time, effort and skills for the benefit of everyone.

Membership isn’t simply about what the club can provide for us — it’s also about what each of us can contribute back.

Our values don’t stop at the touchline. Kindness and respect include how we treat our volunteers, how we look after our facilities and whether we’re prepared to lend a hand rather than assume somebody else will do it.

No one has to do everything — but everyone can do something.

Thank you Louise, not just for one day, but for the contribution you’ve made over the last three years and for continuing to show the Strathie Way in action. 👏🖤❤️
