Miss Sophie's Dance Academy We offer dance classes from 18 months including Tip-Toes (Pre-school Ballet), Mini Groovers & Tapper First class is free.

We are a fun Dance Academy great for confidence and fitness. We have experienced teachers specialising in teaching children from 18 months to 18years . We offer Tipp-Toes classes which are pre-school Ballet classes in Ashford, Canterbury, Faversham, Herne and Whitstable. These are 18 months to 4 years with a 3 week taster for £10 and then £5.00 a class payable termly. Our older classes from 4+ years are held at Herne & West Faversham Community Centre offering Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Street & Musical Theatre.

💜 A HUGE HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY TO MISS NUALA!🎉

Today we’re celebrating one of our fabulous teaching assistants, Miss Nuala, as she officially turns 18! 🥳

Nuala has grown up at MSDA, going from one of our own young dancers to becoming a wonderful role model for so many of our younger dancers. 🥹

She is loved by so many of our little dancers, and it’s so special to see just how much they look up to her. From helping in classes to encouraging them, cheering them on and being someone they can look up to, she is such an important part of our MSDA family. ✨

Over the years, we’ve watched Nuala grow into not only a beautiful dancer, but an incredibly kind, caring and thoughtful young person too — and we couldn’t be prouder of the person she has become. 💜

We hope you have the most amazing 18th birthday, Nuala! You deserve to be celebrated today and always. 🎂

We are SO excited to announce our FIRST EVER MSDA PANTOMIME! 🎭

This December, our Musical Theatre classes will be taking to the stage with Snow White — and they are already working SUPER hard behind the scenes to bring this magical, mischievous and mirror-filled adventure to life! 🪞

Expect magic, mischief & mirror mayhem as our talented Musical Theatre dancers bring this classic story to the stage. 👑

📅 Sunday 6th December
📍 The Great Hall, Canterbury

It’s our first ever pantomime, and we are planning a show that you really won’t want to miss!

Today is all about celebrating the joy of dance — the music, the movement, the friendships, the confidence and, of course, the excuse to have a little boogie! 😂💜

It’s FINALLY here… our first competition of the 2026/27 season! 🎉

This weekend our Mini, Junior & Intermediate Competition Teams are heading to Prestige Dover, and we could not be more excited to see them back on stage! 🥹
The team have been working SO hard getting ready — putting in the hours, polishing choreography, working on technique and performance, and getting themselves competition-ready! 💪

And there’s even more to look forward to…
👀 We’re bringing 8 BRAND NEW dances to the stage this weekend!
And we can already tell you… they are going to look STUNNING! 😍

To all of our dancers: go out there, perform your hearts out, enjoy every second and remember just how much work you’ve put in to get here. 💜
We are SO proud of you already and cannot wait to see you back doing what you love! ✨

✨ UNIFORM REMINDER! ✨
We’re back in the studio, the new term is well underway and our dancers are already working hard towards their upcoming IDTA exams! 💪

That means it’s especially important that dancers are coming to class with their correct uniform AND the correct dance shoes. 👯‍♀️

Having the right uniform and footwear helps our dancers to:
💫 Feel confident and prepared
💫 Move safely and correctly
💫 Allow teachers to see and correct technique
💫 Get used to looking and feeling exam-ready

A few important reminders:
🩰 Ballet: Hair must always be scraped back into a neat bun.
👞 Tap: Hair should be in a bun or ponytail.

For Grade 5+, please speak to your child’s teacher for the relevant uniform requirements.

🛍️ Uniform can be purchased through our MSDA Uniform Shop or from Premier Dancewear in Birchington.

We’re big believers that keeping active doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the gym or doing something you don’t enjoy!

✨ Find something you love and get moving, because keeping active is better when you’re having fun! ✨

For us, that might mean dancing, learning a new routine, performing, trying something new or simply enjoying an hour in the studio with friends. 🩰

Whether you dance, swim, walk, cycle, play sport or find another way to move — find something that makes you want to get moving!
