🌱 We’re recruiting: Apprentice Greenkeeper

We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Greenkeeping team at Southwick Park Golf Club.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in greenkeeping and golf course management. You don’t need any previous experience, and apprenticeships aren’t just for school-leavers. Applicants can be aged 16 or over, with no upper age limit.

You’ll work alongside our experienced team while completing a Level 2 Golf Greenkeeping Apprenticeship with KEITS, learning everything from turf maintenance and machinery to irrigation, drainage and environmental protection.

A huge thank you and farewell to Jim, who leaves Southwick Park today after more than 11 years with the Club.

Since joining us in April 2015, Jim has played a huge part in transforming the course we enjoy today. From drainage and irrigation to tees, bunkers, pathways, machinery and countless other improvements, his vision, drive and passion for the course have made a lasting difference.

Thank you, Jim, for everything you’ve done for Southwick Park and for the leadership you’ve given the greenkeeping team over the years. You leave a fantastic legacy behind and will be very much missed.

We wish you every success in your new role. Here’s to the next chapter! 👏⛳️

Mixed Open 2026 Winners! 🏆

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Mixed Open. We welcomed 84 players (42 pairs) to Southwick Park, with some fantastic golf played throughout the day.

The scoring was particularly impressive, with 26 pairs scoring 40 points or more!

Congratulations to Eileen & Paul Osbourne from Wickham Park Golf Club, who took the title with a brilliant 47 points in the Better Ball Stableford.

⛳ Course Maintenance Week starts today

A reminder that our annual Course Maintenance Week is taking place from today, Monday 17th August, until Friday 21st August.

During the week, only nine holes will be available for play each day:

📅 Monday 17th & Tuesday 18th: Front 9: CLOSED / Back 9: OPEN

📅 Wednesday 19th to Friday 21st: Front 9: OPEN / Back 9: CLOSED

Members’ Guests can play for £10 per 9 holes, Lifestyle Members will be charged 3 points per 9 holes, and no visitor bookings will be accepted during the week.

Whether you’ve just finished 18 holes, are meeting friends for a coffee, need a bacon butty, are stopping by for a bite to eat or simply fancy a drink and a catch-up, our clubhouse is the perfect place to relax.

You don’t need to be playing golf to enjoy it either. Our friendly clubhouse is a welcoming space for members, guests and visitors to get together, unwind and enjoy the surroundings. You’ll even find freshly baked treats available, along with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Good company, a relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome. Just as a clubhouse should be. ⛳

After many years of dedicated service as part of the Southwick Park Golf Club Greenkeeping Team, Jim Fancey will be leaving us, with his final day at the Club on Friday 21 August.

We’d love as many members as possible to join us for an informal Farewell Picnic at 12 noon on Friday 21 August, on the front patio, weather permitting.

There’ll be complimentary refreshments and, most importantly, the chance to thank Jim for everything he has done for the Club and our course over the years, and to wish him every success in his new role.

The invitation is open to all members, staff and the Greenkeeping Team.
