Caught red-handed on the first floor of Wear Park… although, who doesn’t fancy a spa day on a rainy September morning?

Ginger has pretty much adopted the club as his pied-à-terre, despite having an actual home in Newcourt. He spends his days wandering the car parks, popping in and out of reception, snoozing by the outdoor pool, dropping into the studio for the odd yoga class… and even making himself at home in the offices.

Including, on one particularly cheeky occasion, five minutes very comfortably spent in the General Manager’s desk chair.

Today, he was spotted cruising up to the first floor, presumably on his way to the spa relaxation room. And honestly, we can’t blame him.

Perhaps it’s time to start a competition for the best sightings of our favourite feline friend?

Where there’s a will (or a rather large Victorian wall), there’s a way…

Getting our new outdoor sauna into the club wasn’t exactly a case of simply wheeling it through the gate. So, naturally, we got a 90 tonne crane to lift it right over the Victorian wall.

And now it’s officially in place.

Outdoor pool + outdoor sauna = the ultimate combo for autumn.

There’s still a little work to do before it’s ready for you - cold water shower, flooring, storage, planting and all the finishing touches to create the perfect space around it.

It won’t be long to wait.
Cooler mornings, crisp autumn air, a swim outside and straight into the warmth of the sauna.

A 100 year old former member has gifted his golf trophies from the 1940s to the club - swipe 👉 to read their story.

Earlier this year, we received a letter from Tony, who was a member of the Club as a child with his father, and later as an adult. While looking through his golfing keepsakes, he found a collection of trophies that had been won at the Club by both him and his dad.

The trophies date back to 1940 just before golf tournaments were suspended until after the Second World War.

Tony wanted to return the trophies to the club so after a couple of letters and then phone calls, he and his wife made the trip to the club to personally take them home, handing them over to our General Manager, Chris.

Tony loved his visit, finding it quite emotional, reminiscing about his younger years here at the club and remembering how it used to look over 80 years ago.

The trophies are a fascinating glimpse into Exeter Golf and Country Club’s history, particularly as several of the competitions are still played now and have been running since the 1920s.

The trophies have been cleaned up and will be added to the trophy cabinet near the Members Bar.

We’re delighted to have them at the club and so pleased that Tony got in touch.

126 studies. 4,019 women - New 2026 research published in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport has found that women can build strength and improve body composition through resistance training regardless of age or menopausal status.

The strength gains were remarkably similar in pre- and postmenopausal women - challenging the idea that menopause means you can no longer build strength.

The message? It's never too late to get stronger.

If you're new to weights, working with a Personal Trainer can help you learn good technique, train safely and progressively increase your load as you get stronger.

Read the full research breakdown on our website and find out more about Personal Training at Exeter Golf & Country Club.
