Last Friday saw the continuation of our Girls-only coaching. Still missing a few people due to holidays, but the girls that attended had a great time again. We are learning loads every week and really making progress and developing some very good skills

A 49 run victory for Surrey over 60s 4th XI vs Sussex over 60s today.

Now, you’re thinking why are Ewell CC sharing this result, right?

Well, Ewell CC treasurer Richard Armstrong has been selected for the Surrey side. He took a wicket today, which pales into insignificance after last Sunday when, playing for our Sunday 1st XI, he took 5 wickets.

𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲

𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘺 𝘝𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘊𝘊 𝘶17𝘴 𝘷𝘴 𝘌𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘊𝘊 𝘶17𝘴

Our second u17s fixture of the season in a beautiful setting of Whiteley Village, a truly lovely area of Surrey. However, despite the emerald green front lawns of the mansions leading up to the ground, the playing area of Whiteley Village was parched and the grass like straw under the intense summer 2026 sun. So much so, we were moved to the Astro pitch.
Captain Noah Seager won the toss and chose to bat. From the start, Sarvesh Govindarajan seized the initiative. In what must be a Ewell record, Sarvesh reached the compulsory retirement of 50 runs in just 18 balls and before 5 overs of play were complete. However, the rest of Ewell’s wickets fell at regular intervals, forcing Sarvesh to come back in at the end before he was bowled for a glorious 55 off 23 balls which included 5 fours and 5 sixes. This is Sarvesh’s second ½ century in our 2 matches played so far. Despite Sarvesh’s efforts, Ewell fell to 116 all out with still 3.2 overs left out on the field.
Any batting disappointments were soon put in the past. A magnificent bowling and fielding performance saw us on top of the game. Good opening overs from Arman Ahmad and Ryan Carlin saw 11 straight dot balls at the beginning of the innings, before the Whiteley opening bat decided to hit out. Ryan bowled 9 dot balls from 12 in his opening spell. Luke Jacobs came on to bowl and bowled 4 straight overs taking 2 wickets for 9 runs, including the wicket of the attacking opener, which moved the winning odds into Ewell’s direction. Noah and Rickh Chatterjee also bowled very impressive spells, both taking a wicket before Dwij Patel took a wicket with the last ball of the match, with a smart stumping from Sarvesh. Catches from Luke, Barnaby MacLeod and Dwij were highlights in a very good fielding display, stopping singles and restricting twos into ones. The miserly bowling and fielding saw Whiteley Village close on 91 for 5 off their 20 overs - Ewell winning by 25 runs to remain top of the division.

A more sparse session today as all our year 6 girls have coaching a swerve to go partying at the end of their primary school days.

We at Ewell CC carried on with the girls n attendance while wishing our year 6 girls had a great time at their leaving parties and we look forward to seeing everyone back this coming Friday.

Last night saw another night of our blossoming girls section. Girls having fun, learning cricket and developing a love for the game. Last night was our first time doing fielding and we saw some very skills on display.

Our girls-only coaching is every Friday at Ewell CC between 18:00-19:00ish. For new girls it’s free membership and free coaching sessions every week. Please contact us for anyone interested.
