And we’re back! big thanks to everyone who has helped Petrel back into action for her 115 year! Hopefully this typical Fermanagh weather improves in the weeks ahead! ⛵️ ☘️

The Fairy has always been an excellent craft, despite her mass and weight in comparison to modern designs. A Fairy is able to effortlessly manoeuvre in little to no wind. ⛵️ 💨

Great season so far for ’Petrel’ Fairy class yacht of LEYC. Hoping the weather holds through the rest of August and into September. Even managed to get the groups burgee ordered and flown! ☘️ This girl is 115 years old and still sails like a dream.

Someone has woken up from their winter nap!

“Petrel” is being prepped for the new season. Work has begun on various bits of maintenance and upkeep now that the weather is improving. We’ve got her mast sanded down in preparation for new varnish and have almost completed work on her new tiller extension. The hull and rudder will be keyed for new paint in the coming days.

We’re also aiming to keep up with the new builds and have cut the two new Iroko transom boards to size. They are two mammoth pieces and will fulfill a key structural component, while also displaying the yachts names.

Sorry for the absence of any posts, it’s been a very busy few months. Petrel is back home and tucked up for the winter, waiting on the good weather of the new season. In the men’s time, here’s a lovely video courtesy of Orla Graham, it shows Petrel in all her splendour, on her final sail of the 2020 season. ⛵️
