A difficult year for Ellon cricket club.
No pavilion due to Raac concrete.
Lack of availability of players.
However a mid table position was achieved with much help from loan players .

Ellon continued with the rain affected season last week . But in glorious sunshine in Banchory .
Batting first things were looking grim at 75 for 7
But a fine partnership work loan player Rodger Ewan and Jonny Barrett took the score to 203 off 40 overs .
Banchory’s star player Will Redpath was the thorn in Ellons side and the one between them a victory . Fortunately we ran him out on 99 and the rest folded for 155 in 35 overs

So after 2 losses a win and mid table again

On a bouncy track Ellon batted first
With the president leading the way with 40
And then the Addys adding vital runs at the end with Ali getting his first 50 (63) and Calum 27

In reply Ellon had a strong bowling line up and on the helpful wicket they proved to be too strong for Crathie.

The season is getting closer end of April to September .

Last home game of the season v Mannofield 3rds … nothing serious to play for so hopefully just a fun day in the sun

Saturday the 17th of August an undermanned Methlick 2nd team turned up (9 players after a few late call offs)

A toss was agreed and Ellon were to bat .. but not in the usual order
The Van Heerdens both departed before reaching double figures (2&7 )
The Meikle (28) and Wade (29) ran the field ragged with some entertaining running…
The soon to be married Ali had other things on his mind and didn’t stay long.
This brought Sandam to the crease for a steady 31 before he ran past a straight lobby one.
The big guns were now in Veldsman (12) and Procter who smashed a fine 53 (2 sixes 4 fours)
Veldsman fell to a great catch
Barrett came in and smashed a few to the boundary 52 (2 sixes 5 fours) then retired (mostly due to old age)
The youngsters Ovenstone (24) and Fraser (3) took the innings to the end of 40 overs with 273-9 on the board.

Methlicks reply couldn’t of got off to a worse start a wicket first ball
A slow start 6wickets for 5 runs with Ellon juggling the bowlers
Then a very slow middle and end
Methlick ending on 47 all out

We play our local rivals Methlick seconds at home .
