A fantastic start to the season for our U16 White team, who travelled to Barrow-in-Furness and came away as tournament winners! 🧡🖤

A huge thank you to everyone at Barrow Thorns for organising the tournament, hosting us so warmly and giving the players such a valuable opportunity to compete before the new season begins.

Thank you also to coaches Josh and Harry for leading and supporting the team throughout the day—and to all our brilliant parents for making the journey, transporting the players and giving the team their usual fantastic support.

Well done to every player. A strong team performance, a great experience and a winning start—but still plenty of work ahead!

Super day of basketball today at Hoops in our U16 pre season tournament. Thank you to all the teams, coaches and parents who contributed to it being a very enjoyable day. Congrats to the Champions, Cheshire Phoenix who were unbeaten on the day. Other placings 2nd to 8th were:-
St Helens Saints, Trafford Magic, Lancashire Spinners, Manchester Magic, Myerscough, Youth Hoops and Barrow Thorns. Thank you to our local refs, table officials and tuck shop ladies and to the refs who travelled from elsewhere in the region. Safe travel home everyone and to the U18 teams travelling tomorrow when we do it all again 🏀🏀

INTERNATIONAL HONOURS

Huge congratulations to Aaron Davis, Ellis Durham and Sam Lloyd, who have received their caps for representing Wales U15 during the 2025/26 season.

All three players represented Cheshire Phoenix U14and U16 teams last season and have now progressed or continued into our U16 programme—another important step in their basketball journeys.

Their international recognition reflects the hard work taking place behind the scenes: regular training, listening to coaches, competing with purpose and continually looking for ways to improve.

Aaron, Ellis and Sam have represented themselves, their families, Wales and Cheshire Phoenix with pride. Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of their achievement.

Their progress also sends a powerful message to every young Phoenix player:

Keep turning up. Keep working. Stay coachable. Believe in your development—and be ready when your opportunity comes.

🔥 THE NEXT CHAPTER — FREYA NUTTALL 🔥

We are incredibly proud to announce that Freya has secured a place at Myerscough College, where she will compete in the U18 Premier League and WEABL.

This opportunity has not happened by chance. It is the result of Freya’s hard work, commitment, resilience and willingness to keep learning.

During her journey with Phoenix, Bears and Roar, Freya has:

🏀 Become the first female captain of Cheshire Phoenix
🏆 Led her team to a 14–1 record and the league championship
🔥 Finished as the league’s top scorer with 366 points
⭐ Helped the team reach the Championship Playoff Final

The statistics are impressive—but it is the work behind them that tells the real story: attending training, listening to coaches, responding to setbacks, supporting teammates and continually pushing to improve.

Freya’s journey shows every young player what is possible.

If you want to take your game further, you must be prepared to work for it. Turn up. Be coachable. Train with purpose. Support your team. Keep believing—and take every opportunity you are given.

Congratulations, Freya. Everyone at Cheshire Phoenix Juniors is immensely proud of you. We cannot wait to follow your next chapter at Myerscough! 🧡🖤
