Elgin Caley 6 - 5 The Vikings

One of the most entertaining games I've had the opportunity to watch this season. Double figures goals and almost equally shared for once!

It was back and forth all game. We went into the break 4-2 down. Alfie Young floating a free kick in from far out at the touchline and Lee Swan getting the final touch to score after Jamie Lees knocked it past the keeper. A tough first half facing the sun, struggling to cope with the long balls and not finding that killer touch in the final third. Having pulled one back right at the end of the half we went into the break confident.

Unfortunately Caley got a 5th a minute in. A miraculous turn around saw us score 3 goals in 5 minute to get ourselves firmly back in the game. Ethan Marini, Alfie Young, and Jamie Lees combining to create the 3 goals. Caley's 6th would turn out to the winner but we pushed til the final whistle and came close to an equaliser on a few occasions.

A proper game of welfare football for us to sign off a difficult season. Good luck to Elgin Caley in the quarter finals.

With the league now concluded we face Elgin Caley in the preliminary round of the end of season cup. If we can add to last weeks win with another we'll face either Lossiemouth Utd or FC Bishopmill in the quarter finals.

Always an entertaining game against Caley (lets forget the highland cup game that had like 1 shot on target between us) and plenty goals to be had. They've had the better of us all season but the lads will be hoping to fix that tonight.

The Vikings 4 - 1 Elgin Albion

The boys have done it! We ended our longest winless run in style beating Elgin Albion 4-1 at the Keirans Legacy Arena to move off the foot of the table and finish 9th on the final day!

Continuing our turn around in form we went into what was essentially a cup final hoping for a positive result. The game was a tense affair going into the break level. Jamie Lees (who broke the 75 combined goals & assists milestone during the game) pulled out a game changing performance.

Driving at the defence for the entire half, he created the first goal unselfishly passing it across the box for no. 1 Alfie Young to hit home. Less than 10 minutes later we double the lead. Jamie Lees created the second goal on his own, the relentless physical pressing paying off, winning the ball in their box and finding the net.

Jordan Cowie pulled one back for the visitors to get Albion back into the game. But an almost immediate response found us restore our 2 goal cushion. Jamie Lees once again involved in the action setting up Ethan Marini for his 33rd goal for the club.

To round off an impressive performance. Captain Arran Weir on his final game for the club before his transfer goes through at the end of the season (His wage demands were getting excessive) Hit a perfect penalty (finally) to finish the game off at 4-1.

We've got a couple days rest before we face Elgin Caley in the Preliminary round of the end of season cup.

Here we go! The biggest game of our season. We currently sit bottom of the table and face Elgin Albion who sit above us, ahead by a point. We need a win to get off the bottom of the table in the final league game of the season.

We've met Elgin Albion twice before this season. Our first encounter ending in a penalty loss after an incredible 2 minute Paddy Gault hat trick to get us back into the game.

In our second encounter we had a brilliant come back win, which ended up being our only win of the season so far.

Tomorrow night we go into our final league game facing the biggest challenge of the season. We've had a tough run of games, steadily improving as the weeks went on. A recruitment drive and some familiar faces returning from injury has given us a boost.

Only a win will do if we want to avoid finishing bottom of the table this year. We've had two entertaining, end to end games against Elgin Albion so far this season and I'm sure this one will be no different.

The Vikings - 0

A tactical tweak on Tuesday starting to pay dividends as another step up in performance sees us push the unbeaten defending champions all the way to full time.

A compact, narrow midfield, playing deep with lots of sharp passing and movement. No rush to break after winning the ball back and working our way through an experienced and talented opposition to create some close chances. We went into the break level at 0-0. Both sides with a handful of chances. FC Thistle made two changes at the break and stepped up a gear

We were undone by two brilliantly taken goals and despite running out of steam and making subs for injuries we pushed til the last kick of the game and came close on several occasions to finding the net.

Lads came off the park at the end feeling like they'd won the game! All positive signs heading into our "cup final" next week, the final league game of the season against Elgin Albion as we continue the push to get off the bottom of the table.

The marauding wing back has made the right back position his own, creating a formidable right side partnership with Alfie Young. Equally comfortable putting in a heavy challenge or driving forward to create chances.

Honourable Mention:

Lee Swan.

Refining his game every week, the ginger prince does the dirty work in midfield, but stepped up his game this week again, playing some well taken first time passes to open up the game and create opportunities. Despite cramping up with 20 minutes to go, battled through til the final whistle.

Our penultimate league game of our 6th season in the FNWFA sees us head through to the Roysvale Cage for the second half of an FC Thistle double header. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45

Toughest game of the season by far, they don't know how to lose and we've seemingly forgotten how to win. Nevermind! It'll be a good day out and the early kick off means we'll get more time for sinking jars in the Kirkie Bar after the game.

On Tuesday night we welcomed FC Thistle down to the Keirans Legacy Arena for a rearranged league tie. We knew we'd be up against it from the start with FC Thistle winning their Scottish Cup semi final tie on the Sunday.

We played well and gave them a good game for a long stretch. The difference in quality & experience showing by the end as the scoreline ran away from us.

We don't score often but when we do it's tasty. Mark Wood's curling out an absolute stinker from 823,234 Yards out. Catching out the keeper who thought it was heading wide. (So did we to be fair.)

The game ended 7-1 in the favour of the unbeaten defending champions who we face again on Friday for our sins.

A minimum of 3 games left and we can take stock and prepare for next year.

First of a frighteningly exciting double header this week as we host unbeaten defending Forres and Nairn District Welfare FA League champions and Scottish Cup Finalists FC Thistle at the Keirans Legacy Arena. Kick off is 6:45

A star studded line up with a wealth of talent, experience, and skills. And that's just the staff at our sponsors the Kirkie Bar and Nae Bad Food.

They reckon they had their hardest test of the season on Sunday when they sent Deanston packing in the Scottish Cup Semis but tonight is the real challenge.

Trying not to lose their stuff in the long grass at the side of the Doocot pitch.

We couldn't get into the changing rooms on Friday night as the council misplaced the keys, so here's hoping for a more positive start to tonight's game du jour.

Rumour has it Brazilian (in spirit) sensation Belé will be in the squad tonight bringing his unique brand of footballing excellence to tonight's fixture. A 10 minute cameo at the end with a heat map colder than the walk-in beer cave at the New Elgin Service Station
