A controlled and impressive performance from Tam Urquhart earns him Player of the Match following our pre-season round robin against Leith and Ross High.
Playing all but 10 minutes at scrum-half, Tam’s influence was felt throughout. His sharp service and excellent passing range kept the tempo high in attack, allowing the lads to play with pace and purpose. Around the breakdown, his speed to the ruck ensured quick ball and helped maintain momentum across both fixtures.
It wasn’t just his attacking game that stood out. Tam was equally committed in defence, never shying away from the physical side of the game and putting in some important tackles when called upon.
Another strong weekend in the bank for the squad as preparations continue, with Tam’s performance setting a great standard for the season ahead.

🏉 A successful day of rugby at Barnton.
Game 1 was fast and furious, with a couple of good breaks helping us secure the win. Credit to Leith, who stuck in throughout and fought back well.
Game 2 was a real ding-dong battle. Ross High fresh were physical, robust, and quick to punish any mistakes, making for a tough contest.
Overall, plenty of valuable minutes in the legs and lots learned. A great day with every team taking something positive away from it. 💪

Royal High Man of the Match - Eamonn O’Dea
A huge 80‑minute shift from our number 6.
Big carries, ruck smashing, questionable tackle height and work rate through the roof.
Eamonn didn’t just dominate the contact — he showed his versatility across the park, stepping in at loosehead and even throwing for the set piece when needed.
A leader’s performance from start to finish.
