Eagles may not be playing again in 2026 but that doesn't mean no more Mens RL action in Edinburgh.

This Saturday (22 Aug) a Scotland Rugby League club team will face Ireland Clubs with the squad featuring no less than 7 Eagles players (I know there is a typo but we lifted the image from Scotland RL)

🦅 Why Edinburgh Eagles Are Different🦅

As we reflect on the 2026 season, it's worth remembering how different Edinburgh Eagles are.

Most community sports clubs run year-round. We come together for around four months each year, yet in that short time we offer opportunities that few community clubs can match.

-players can dream of running out at Wembley Stadium through the Challenge Cup. The chances may be remote, but the opportunity is real.

-players can realistically progress to represent their country. In 2026, Eagles players were selected at Under 19, Student, Scotland A, Scotland Club and Scotland Full levels.

This club brings together players from multiple RU clubs, backgrounds and nations. In 2026 we were represented by players from Scotland, Wales, Ireland, England, Fiji and Greece and in past seasons from Australia, New Zealand and Poland to name a few.

In 2026, brothers took the field together and, perhaps most special of all, a father and son played together in Eagles colours.

Edinburgh Eagles isn't just a rugby league team. It's a club that creates opportunities, friendships and memories that last long after the final whistle.

The 2026 season may not have ended the way we hoped, but we're proud of what we achieved.

In 2027 we'll do what we've always done. We'll welcome new players, strengthen old friendships, represent our city and continue growing the game we love.

🦅 That's a wrap for 2026 - nearly.

If you've been wondering about the Grand Final, the truth is simple: you didn't miss it. It never happened.

That's a disappointing way for the season to end and reflects the wider challenges that rugby league (and other sports) continue to face in Scotland.

The sport's journey north of the border has never been straightforward, and this season has been another reminder of that reality.

What hasn't changed is the dedication of everyone at Eagles. Through every challenge, people continue to show up, put the work in and represent this club with pride.

The season isn't completely over though - 7 Eagles players will represent Scotland Club XIII against Ireland this Saturday.

Our commitment isn't diminished. In 2027 we'll regroup, rebuild and be ready to go again.

🦅 EAGLES BACK IN ACTION NEXT SATURDAY 🦅
After three games, the Edinburgh Eagles sit 2nd in the standings with a 2-1 record and plenty to play for as the season resumes.
Training continues on Wednesday evening at Royal High School and we're looking forward to getting back on the field next Saturday when we travel to take on the Border Barbarians.
