Aren't we meant to get slower as we age🤔
-
I've never classed myself as a runner, and rarely wear a run vest because I don't feel that I am one or worthy. Yet, maybe my recent times and PBs are changing that belief ! Being a cyclist and triathlete I've built an extremely large aerobic engine, and I am firm believer that is the reason I've been fortunate to run so well - especially recently. Most recently was a minute PB over the half marathon.
-
This year I've averaged 2hrs 32 per week, no big weeks and no weeks of zero running - just consistency week in week out of running. A total of 4 x tracks session and limited efforts.
-
So what is helping me run faster than I train, and faster year on year!?
-
My marathon PB is 3hrs 40, which was set in Hamburg in 2025 at the back of an Ironman where I achieved another goal of going Sub10 - 9hrs and 54. Fresh marathon last year I couldn't get the pace right and ran 1:33 first half then struggled and finished 3hrs 45.
-
I'm going back to Malaga in 11 weeks, with one goal and one objective and that is Sub3.
-
Is it achievable?? Who knows but I've got nothing to lose, and over these weeks I'll commit and do what I can with the time available.
-
What's your predictions and any tips and hints you have are 🙏

Are you ready to take your performance to the Next Level?
-
I'm looking for one athlete who is serious about their goals and willing to fully commit to the process - lifestyle balance.
-
I'm not looking for an athlete looking for a quick fix, or an athlete chasing the latest trend. But an athlete who can equally learn, provide value added feedback and someone who wants to perform.
-
This athlete who wants to trust the process, work consistently, and take their performance to places they've not been before.
-
As a qualified High Performance coach with over 15 years experience, I've been fortunate to learn from and be coached by some of the best coaches in the endurance business. Those experiences have shaped how I coach today, but the learning never stops. I continue to invest in my own development, using fellow coaches and trusted experts.
-
As an athlete myself, I understand the challenges of balancing training with the demands of family life and a professional career. Despite this, I've continued to race competitively and , perhaps more importantly, continue to achieve personal bests as I've got older. Not because I've trained harder, or longer, but because I've learnt how to train smarter.
-
My Philosophy is Simple - Train Smart, keep things simple, and we focus on truly what moves that needle.....
-
If you're motivated, coachable, and ready to invest in your development, I'd love to connect and have a conversation.
-
If you're Scotland based, then this would include regular meet up sessions. As I feel there's so much more I can do with 1:2:1 sessions.
-
Drop me a message and let's see what is possible....

Everyone talks about the grind, the hustle, the next big thing.
But here's the truth - the future isn't the only place your success lives.
You've already climbed mountains that once felt impossible.
You've already become someone your past self would be proud of.
So YES - Chas the next goal, push the next challenge, dream big the next dream.
But don't sprint past the life you're living right NOW.
-
This moments matter just as much as the ones you're chasing, if not more.

Short notice trip to Les Gets to ride some epic trails. What a place to visit and just get some technical trail riding in. The lifts are just excellent and value for money too.

Schönausteg Bridge in Bern, is no ordinary Bridge.....
-
This experience is like no other if you're ever in Bern, Switzerland. The river Aare was around 24 deg, which is higher than normal but still water temperature make this an annual pastime.
-
Whether you wish to jump from the bridge or use the steps to get in and float - the river has you covered. From the bridge you have your first exit opportunity about 200m then there's a few more or you can continue to float down the fast flowing Aare until you see final exit point.
-
If driving you're best to park using the Tierparkweg Parking adjacent to the bridge.
-
Highly recommended if you're in the area and want to experience something a little different.

Cap de Formentor.

Rise early, embrace the fresh calm air at 0550 leaving Puerto Pollensa - riding in the dark and watching the calm dark blue sky change - seeing the sunrise and the striking impact against this dramatic scenery is breathtaking.
