🏔️ Glas Tulaichean Hill Race 🏔️
What do you get when you combine river crossings, 670m of climbing, a Munro summit and slightly questionable life choices?
The Glas Tulaichean Hill Race!
While most of the club were apparently "busy", Iain and Tristan headed north to Glenshee to take on this unique uphill-only challenge.
After splashing through rivers, grinding up steep estate tracks and enjoying spectacular views across the Cairngorms, both runners were rewarded with a well-earned spread of tea and cakes at race HQ.
Special congratulations to Iain, who finished an outstanding 4th overall and took home the V50 prize. 👏
A brilliant day out in the hills, organised by Hawkhill Harriers, and perhaps one that deserves a bigger black-and-white CAAC presence next year...

Toruń or not Toruń… Ian chose Toruń
Long-time CAAC member Ian recently represented the club at the 2026 European Masters Indoor Championships in Poland, competing in both the 800m and 1500m in a stacked M55 category.
From racing against world record holders to rediscovering his love for middle-distance running after years away from the sport, Ian’s story is a brilliant reminder that athletics doesn’t stop at any age.
In our latest feature, Ian reflects on:
🏃 Competing on the European stage
🏟️ The experience of racing indoors in Toruń
💪 Returning from injury setbacks
🤝 The camaraderie of masters athletics
🎯 His goals ahead of Glasgow 2028
Whether you’re chasing PBs, returning to the sport, or just love hearing great running stories, give it a read.

Great start to the season for CAAC at CSSAL Match 1 in Linwood!
Battling everything from sunshine to hailstorms (sometimes within minutes!), our athletes showed incredible resilience and team spirit throughout the day. From dominant distance performances, to strong sprint finishes and standout field results, every single contribution counted.
Special mentions go to:
- A clean sweep in the 3000m (1st A, 1st B, 1st Masters)
- Heather’s win in the U18 Girls’ Javelin
- Elliot & Blair taking 1st A and 1st B in the U18 Boys’ High Jump
- A memorable relay moment with Elson handing the baton to his daughter Alice
Despite a few gaps in events, the team pulled together brilliantly to finish 4th overall, just 3 points off 3rd place.
A huge thank you as well to our officials and coaches who kept everything running in some challenging conditions.
👉 Every run, jump, and throw matters, and this result proves it.
Next up: Round 2 at Grangemouth on Sunday 10th May. Let’s get even more athletes involved and push up the table!

At this year’s English Indoor Championships in Sheffield, Alice Mourao produced a superb front-running performance to take gold in the U20 1500m.
Her reflections give a great insight into the mindset behind the performance. Calm, adaptable, and willing to take responsibility when the moment came.
Having developed through the club over a number of years, Alice’s success is also a testament to the strength of the training environment and the support around her.
A fantastic achievement, and an exciting sign of what’s still to come.
