The more you focus on beating yourself, the more progress you’ll make.

Getting in shape for the first time?
Getting back to it after time off?
Taking your physique to another level?
Setting yourself a big goal like a photoshoot or maybe even stepping on stage?

The goal might differ, but one of the quickest ways to slow your progress is becoming distracted by how everyone ELSE is progressing.

Because what YOU need to be doing is rarely the same as someone else.

Different starting point.
Different experience.
Different lifestyle.
Different plan.

Yet it’s easy to see someone eating more, training differently, progressing faster or looking better and start questioning what YOU’RE doing.

That’s when comparison becomes a problem.

Not because noticing someone else’s progress is bad…

But because you start allowing THEIR progress to influence YOUR decisions.

You second guess your plan.
Change things that didn’t need changing.
Become impatient with progress that was moving in the right direction.

There will ALWAYS be someone leaner, stronger, bigger or progressing faster than you.

So stop making them your benchmark.

The far better question is:

Are YOU doing this better than you did last time?

Are you completing this diet better than your last?

Stronger at this stage of your gaining phase?

Executing your training better than at the start of this block?

Handling weekends, meals-out & socials better?

Getting back on plan quicker when things don’t go perfectly?

THAT’S the comparison that actually matters.

And it’s one of the biggest benefits of working with a coach.

Keeping your attention on YOUR plan, YOUR progress and what YOU need next - rather than what everyone else is doing.

Because once you stop trying to beat everyone else and focus on consistently beating your previous self…

The progress tends to take care of itself.

He was already experienced in the gym, already in decent shape, already putting effort in…

But despite all of that, he’d spent a long time going nowhere.

Training progress had stalled, he was losing the love for the gym and his nutrition had become another cycle of approaches he couldn’t sustain.

He’d tried keto to shift the stubborn body fat around his midsection.

He’d followed structured meal plans that worked… until the lack of flexibility meant he got bored and fell away from them.

And meals out, hosting dinners and drinks had always been difficult to balance alongside his goals.

So I didn’t just give him another diet and tell him to try harder.

We identified WHERE more effort was needed and gave that effort direction.

👉🏼 More intent, ex*****on & progression in training.

👉🏼 Nutrition structured to fuel performance while steadily reducing body fat.

👉🏼 More attention to recovery so he could actually adapt to the work he was doing.

👉🏼 Weekly meals out, dinners & socials remained PART of the plan.

And while there’s only a 5kg difference on the scales, there’s clearly far more than 5kg of fat-loss when you consider the visual change alongside continually improving strength & training performance.

Less body fat + More muscle + Stronger across the board = A genuine recomp.

But arguably the most exciting part is where this leaves us now…

Instead of spending 23 weeks JUST losing body fat before turning our attention to building muscle, we’ve improved both simultaneously.

Now we can maintain this lean physique, bring calories up and put even more resources towards training performance & adding lean muscle tissue.

You can spend YEARS putting effort into your physique and still look largely the same if that effort isn’t being applied to the things that actually drive progress.

Sometimes you don’t need to do EVERYTHING harder.

You need to know what deserves more from you and have a clear strategy behind it.

If you’re experienced with training but the return you’re getting no longer reflects the effort you’re putting in…

That’s exactly the problem I help my clients solve.

If you keep “falling off” your diet, the answer isn’t always “MORE DISCIPLINE!”

Sometimes your diet is just unnecessarily difficult to stick to.

You can have the perfect calories and macros on paper…

But if you’re constantly hungry, bored of your food, poorly fuelled, spending half your life preparing meals and have ZERO flexibility when life changes…

How long are you realistically going to follow it?

This is something I change with a lot of guys when they first start working with me.

Not necessarily just WHAT they eat, but how their nutrition is structured around them.

1️⃣ Meal size & frequency → Your meals need to actually satisfy you. 3 meals might work brilliantly for one person and leave another starving. Structure them around your appetite, schedule and overall intake.

2️⃣ Variety → Consistency doesn’t mean eating the same foods at every meal. I like keeping core meals relatively consistent day-to-day, but using different protein, carb, fruit & veg sources across the day keeps your diet less monotonous while providing a broader spread of nutrients.

3️⃣ Enjoyment → Eating for your goals doesn’t mean dry chicken, plain rice and steamed veg. Season your food, use sauces and learn how to make your staple meals actually taste good.

4️⃣ Training nutrition → If you train hard, allocate enough of your intake around it. Going into sessions poorly fuelled and finishing ravenous isn’t setting yourself up for good training OR adherence.

5️⃣ Convenience → Not every meal should require 30 minutes and a kitchen. Have quick, portable or pre-prepared options for when work overruns or plans change.

6️⃣ Flexibility → If your diet only works Monday-Friday when everything goes perfectly, it doesn’t work.

Your nutrition needs to account for weekends, meals-out, travel and social occasions because those aren’t interruptions to your life…

They ARE your life.

The goal isn’t to create a diet you could follow with unlimited motivation, time and willpower.

It’s to create one that requires as little reliance on those things as possible.

Because the easier your plan is to execute consistently…

The less often you’ll need to “get back on track” 👍🏼

One of my clients once said this to me…

And honestly, I didn’t blame him. I understood why.

When people see where you are today, they rarely see how many times you failed and had to start again to get there.

I spent YEARS going from one extreme to another.

I’d get in shape, lose it, panic, restrict harder and try to force my way back as quickly as possible.

Every time it happened, I assumed I simply hadn’t wanted it enough and that I’d have to try even harder the next time around…

😤 More discipline.
😤 More motivation.
😤 More sacrifice.

But “wanting it” was never the problem.

I wanted it so badly that I repeatedly made myself physically and mentally unwell trying to achieve it.

What I didn’t have was the right approach to build - and maintain - the physique I actually wanted, rather than simply forcing my bodyweight down.

I needed an approach I could sustain and adapt when life became busy, motivation dropped or progress slowed.

Everything changed when I stopped treating physique progress as something I had to suffer through - and started developing the skills and structure required to maintain it.

✅ I learned how to train with purpose instead of simply doing more.

✅ How to eat in a way that supported my goals without constantly restricting myself.

✅ How to recover, adjust and continue moving forward when progress slowed or circumstances weren’t perfect.

That’s why I understand the men who train hard, make progress and still keep ending up back where they started.

It isn’t always because you don’t want it enough.

And it doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

You may simply be relying on an approach that was never designed to last.

You don’t need another extreme plan.

You need a strategy that helps you make progress and gives you the tools to keep it.

📩 If you’re tired of repeatedly starting again and want to build results you can actually sustain, DM me “PRIME” 🤝

Callum’s not only the strongest & fittest he’s been in 5+ years, but now has the physique to back it.

But the 8kg doesn’t tell you the most impressive part of this transformation…

Because Callum certainly didn’t have a quiet 27 weeks where everything could revolve around getting in shape.

It’s been quite the opposite…

🌍 Frequent work travel across the world
💻 Huge work demands & sleepless nights
📈 Closing the biggest investment round in his company’s history
✈️ Multiple holidays
🍻 Weekend socials & celebrations

These are exactly the circumstances that make a lot of guys think:

🥱 “There’s no point starting yet.”
🥱 “I’ll wait until things calm down.”
🥱 “I’ll get this holiday/work trip/busy period out the way first.”

But what if things don’t calm down?

That’s what we’ve worked on throughout Callum’s journey.

❌ Not trying to create 27 perfect weeks.
❌ Not expecting him to sacrifice every holiday, celebration or opportunity that came his way.
❌ And definitely not throwing the diet away every time life interrupted the plan.

Instead, we built the plan around his life.

✅ We pushed when we had the opportunity to push.
✅ We adjusted when work, travel or social plans demanded it.
✅ We navigated meals out, holidays and weekends rather than pretending they weren’t going to happen.
✅ And whenever things went slightly off-plan? We simply got straight back to what we could control rather than trying to punish or compensate for it.

That’s where having accountability, consistent direction and adjustments made in real time becomes so valuable.

The best plan isn’t the one that works when your diary is empty and everything goes perfectly.

🔑 It’s the one that continues moving you forwards when life looks exactly like this.

Callum summed it up better than I could:

📩 If you’ve spent this summer telling yourself you’ll finally get serious “when things calm down”, DM me “PRIME” and let’s build an approach that doesn’t require them to 🤝

Most men return from holiday feeling like they’ve taken two steps backwards…

The scale has shot up.

Training feels sluggish.

They’re bloated, uncomfortable and already planning the extreme diet they’ll need to “undo the damage.”

But here’s the problem…

Most people view a holiday as a break from their physique goals.

I don’t.

❌ A holiday shouldn’t be a setback.

✅ It should be a springboard.

These messages came from a client less than a week after returning from a week’s holiday.

His bodyweight had already returned to where it was before he left, but that’s only half the story…

His physique had improved.

His lifts took off.

And he was continuing to make progress while still dieting for fat loss.

Why?

Because the goal wasn’t to continue aggressively pushing fat loss while he was away.

The goal was to:

✅ Hold body fat as steady as possible.
✅ Use the week as a controlled diet break.
✅ Restore muscle glycogen.
✅ Improve recovery.
✅ Return straight back into routine.

Most people either stay “100% on plan” while they’re away…

Or completely abandon all structure.

My clients do neither.

We simply shift the objective.

Because if you can spend a week enjoying yourself, maintaining your progress and returning home physically and mentally recharged…

You don’t spend the next month trying to undo the damage.

You build from where you left off.

And that’s why a holiday should never be viewed as a setback.

It should be viewed as an opportunity to set yourself up for even more progress when you return.

📩 DM me “HOLIDAY” if you’re tired of feeling like every holiday puts your physique goals back to square one 🤝.

Most men fail their fat-loss diet before they even start…

All because they massively underestimate how long it’s actually going to take.

You think you’ve only got 5-6kg to lose?…

You tell yourself you’ll be done in 6-8 weeks?…

In reality, it’s often closer to DOUBLE THAT.

Why?…

👉🏼 We overestimate how much muscle mass we actually carry.

👉🏼 We underestimate how much body fat hides definition.

👉🏼 We base our expectations on how we look in clothes, not how lean we actually are.

👉🏼 We compare ourselves to physiques that are often much leaner than we realise.

If your goal physique has visible abs, more muscle definition and a lean, athletic look…

You’ll probably need to get leaner than you’re currently comfortable with.

But the good news is ⬇️

Once you accept that getting genuinely lean might take longer than you’d LIKE, the whole process becomes much easier.

You stop trying to cram 12-16 weeks of progress into 6.

You stop panicking because you’re not shredded halfway through.

You can use a more manageable deficit, maintain your training performance, and still have some flexibility around your life.

Most importantly…

You stay consistent long enough to actually finish the job.

Because the problem usually isn’t your work ethic.

It’s your expectations.

You don’t need another aggressive diet.

You need a more realistic timeline.

And when your expectations finally match reality, you stop spinning your wheels and start uncovering the physique you’ve been chasing.

📩 If you’re ready to stop repeating short-lived diets and want a structured approach to finally get properly lean and STAY lean, DM me “PRIME” 🤝
