Well… this was a lovely bit of news! 🎉

I’m absolutely delighted that my business (Laura Ogilvie-Jones Career & Leadership Coaching) has been shortlisted for Service Excellence Business of the Year at the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards 2026!

And this particular category means a LOT to me.

Running my own business for the past seven years has definitely involved plenty of blood, sweat and tears (and a LOT of learning!), but I genuinely love what I do.

I love coaching my wonderful clients, helping them make positive changes in their careers and lives, and seeing the ripple effect that can have on the teams and organisations they work in.

I’ve always wanted my clients to feel genuinely listened to, supported and challenged, and for coaching with me to feel personal to them, rather than like a one-size-fits-all process.

So to now have 125 5* Google Reviews AND be shortlisted for an award specifically recognising Service Excellence feels pretty special.

A huge thank you to every single person who has trusted me to coach them over the past seven years, recommended me to someone else, left me a review or supported my business along the way. ❤️

I’ll be heading to Glasgow for the awards on 29 October. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Thank you Women's Business Centre for the recognition.

The job is brilliant. But there’s another part of this review I love even more. ❤️

When this client first came to me, she’d finished uni and been travelling, and wanted more clarity about what she wanted to do and how to get into the workforce.

Through our coaching, she started to make sense of the doubts and muddled thoughts, understand herself better and build her confidence.

And then… she got the job! 🙌🎉

A pretty lovely review to receive. And the fact that it happens to be my 125th 5⭐ Google Review makes it even more special.

Hence the chair spinning. 😂

If you’re feeling unsure about what you want next in your career, send me a DM and we can have a chat about whether coaching could help. ❤️

Plot twist. I didn’t always know what I wanted to do either.

I’m telling you this because so many of you message me feeling like you should have it all figured out by now.

You don’t. I didn’t either.

Teaching gave me patience. Working in admissions gave me business skills. Headhunting gave me a front row seat to how many brilliant people feel completely stuck in their careers.

It took landing in a coach’s chair myself to work out what I actually wanted to do with all of it.

If you’re in the messy middle of your own career story right now, you’re not behind. You’re just not finished yet.

Save this for the day you need reminding of that.

And tell me, where are you in your career story right now? 👇

You will never get this year back.

Not next year. Not “when things calm down”. This one.

Most people don’t stay stuck in an unfulfilling career because they lack ambition. They stay stuck because somewhere along the way, wanting a career that actually feels meaningful started to feel greedy or unrealistic.

It’s not. It never was.

The people who make a real career change aren’t the ones with it all figured out. They’re just the ones who stopped waiting for the “right time” to start.

There isn’t one. There’s just this year.

Save this if you’re craving more career clarity. 🔥

Tag someone who’s been waiting for permission to change their career.

Spotted on the Union Canal this week.

And I couldn’t walk past without stopping.

Because this is what I want for every single person I work with.

Not the frantic energy of constantly chasing the next thing.

Not the Sunday dread. Not the knot in your stomach on a Monday morning.

Not the “I should be grateful, but...”

This.

Two swans. One focused, one steady. Both completely at peace with exactly what they’re doing.

Did you know swans mate for life? They don’t constantly question their choices or wonder if they should be somewhere else, doing something different.

They just... commit. Fully. To what feels right.

So many of the people I work with are exhausted. Not because they’re lazy. But because they’ve been pouring everything into work that doesn’t align with who they actually are.

And that misalignment? It’s draining in a way that’s really hard to explain to people who haven’t felt it.

Whatever you choose to do in this life, let it bring you peace.

Not just a good salary. Not just an impressive job title.

Peace.

Save this for the days when you forget it. And if it resonates, send it to someone who needs the reminder too.

Ever felt like your confidence is quietly slipping, even though you’re achieving more than ever?

This is one of the most common things I see in my coaching work with senior professionals and leaders. And the really fascinating thing is that the people most affected are often the ones who look the most confident from the outside.

They’re hitting their targets, managing their teams, keeping up appearances. But privately they’re questioning themselves, losing their spark and wondering if they’re still good enough.

The good news? Awareness is everything. And once you name it, you can start to change it.

I talked all about this with Lucinda Carney on the HR Uprising Podcast. Does any of this resonate with you? I’d love to know in the comments 👇

Six months is both nothing and everything.

Think back to where you were just six months ago. The things you were worried about. The decisions you hadn’t made yet. The version of you that couldn’t quite see the way forward.

2026 has been a lot for many of us. Loss, grief, uncertainty. The kind of start to a year that knocks you sideways and makes you question everything.

But I found myself walking on Gullane beach at the weekend, feet in the sand, eyes on the sea, and something shifted. That quiet that only fresh air and open water can give you.

Here’s what I know after 1,000+ hours of coaching: most people don’t change because they wait for the right moment. They change because they finally decide the current one is no longer good enough.

If something in you is stirring right now, that’s not restlessness. That’s clarity trying to get your attention.

Save this for when you need the reminder. And if you’re ready to make the next six months count, my DMs are open. 💙
