There’s nothing on earth tougher than this.

THE WRATH BRINGS ULTRA RUNNING BACK TO THE CAPE WRATH TRAIL IN 2027

Ultra running will return to the Cape Wrath Trail in May 2027 with The Wrath, a non-stop expedition race from the team behind the Spine.

The event will follow one of Britain’s great wilderness routes, taking runners through remote, unmarked terrain to the lighthouse at Cape Wrath. The company behind the Spine has acquired the Cape Wrath Ultra name, branding and legacy from Ourea Events, and will carry the route forward under a new banner: a non-stop, self-sufficient race in the Spine tradition.

Philip Hayday-Brown, Race Director of the Spine Race, said:

“My outdoors career started in the Scottish mountains, so The Wrath feels like coming home. The Spine set the benchmark for non-stop expedition racing on the Pennine Way. The Cape Wrath Trail is the natural place to take that experience next.”

The return of racing on the Cape Wrath Trail was also welcomed by Shane Ohly, founder of Ourea Events and the original Cape Wrath Ultra:

“The Cape Wrath Trail is one of the great arenas for endurance running. It deserves an event built with care, experience, and respect for the route. I wish The Wrath every success.”

Entry details, including places, pricing, and qualification requirements, will be announced in due course.

Good Afternoon Spiners,

Earlier today we launched the 2027 Summer Spine Race.

If you entered your details successfully and have received your confirmation email, great! You have a place in the race. If you don’t have a confirmation email or can’t log into the runner portal, then you do not have a place.

In a few instances, the final payment confirmation didn’t display. If this was the case for you then please check your email inbox, spam folder or log into the runner portal (Login) on the Spine Race Website and complete your payment to secure your place.

We are aware that for some people the waitlist sign-up form did not display correctly.

This was an issue with the public side of the waitlist forms, and as a result in some cases it’s not clear if you have a waitlist spot or not.

We have a log of all waitlist entries behind the scenes, and the team are currently working their way through these. If you think you have a waitist place then please wait, as the team will contact you over the next few days to confirm your place and position on the waitlist.

Best regards,
Spine HQ
