2025/26 Presentation Evening 🏉

Last weekend we came together to celebrate the end of another Ebbw Vale Youth Rugby season.

While it wasn’t the easiest year on the pitch, this group never stopped showing commitment, resilience and pride in wearing the Ebbw Vale jersey. Those qualities matter just as much as the results.

A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters, whose dedication makes youth rugby possible.

A special mention goes to our players who are now moving on into senior rugby. It’s been a privilege to watch you develop both as rugby players and as young men. We wish you every success in the next chapter and look forward to seeing you representing Ebbw Vale RFC at senior level.

Congratulations to all of our award winners, and thank you to every player for your commitment throughout the season.

📅 14th July – Pre Season Begins

💪 Training will take place every Tuesday & Thursday

JOINING THE JOURNEY 🇭🇺

We are delighted to welcome Phil Edwards to Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth as our Backs Coach for the 2026/27 season.

Phil brings with him a wealth of experience from both his playing and coaching career. As a player, Phil represented UWIC, Welsh Students, Wales Universities, Wales Sevens, Pontypridd RFC and Weston Hornets RFC, building an impressive rugby CV along the way.

His coaching experience spans schools and representative rugby across Bristol, Cardiff, Brynmawr and Somerset Schools, helping to develop young players and support their progression through the game.

Phil’s knowledge, passion for player development and understanding of the modern game make him an exciting addition to our coaching team as we continue to strengthen the Steelmen Pathway.

We are committed to providing the best possible environment for our players to develop both on and off the field.

We’re excited to have Phil joining the journey and look forward to seeing the impact he will make with our players throughout the season ahead.

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY

We’re delighted to confirm that Cheryl Evans will continue with Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth as our First Aider for the 2026/27 season.

While coaches and players often take centre stage, every successful team relies on people working tirelessly behind the scenes, and Cheryl is one of those people.

Whether it’s on a cold training night, a busy match day, or when someone needs support the most, Cheryl is always there with a calm head, a caring approach and a reassuring presence. Her commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of our players is invaluable, and the role she plays within our team cannot be overstated.

As Dragons Division One Champions and Dragons Cup Finalists, we know success isn’t just built on what happens on the pitch. It’s built on having great people around the squad who genuinely care about our players and our club.

We are delighted to welcome Michael Young to Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth as our new Forwards Coach for the 2026/27 season.

Michael brings a wealth of rugby knowledge and coaching experience to the club and is currently developing players as a Forwards Coach at Newport High School Rugby Academy alongside former Wales international Robert Sidoli.

His passion for the game, commitment to player development and understanding of forward play will be a huge asset to our players and coaching team as we continue to build on the foundations laid over the last two successful seasons.

As Dragons Division One Champions and Dragons Cup Finalists, we are determined to keep moving forward, and Michael’s arrival is another exciting step in that journey.

We’re incredibly excited to have him on board and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make both on and off the field.

We are delighted to confirm that Garin Vivian will continue as Head Coach of Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth for the 2026/27 season.

Over the past two seasons, Garin has played a key role in building a culture of hard work, commitment and ambition within the squad. His passion for player development and his dedication to creating opportunities for young people have helped shape the environment we are proud of today.

As we look ahead, Garin will continue to lead the youth programme while also working closely with coaches throughout the club, including the senior team, to further develop the Steelmen Pathway, ensuring that players have a clear route to progress and thrive in the red, white and green.

The future of Ebbw Vale Rugby is built on strong foundations, and we’re excited to continue that journey together.

We’re delighted to confirm that Matthew Brook will continue with Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth as our Skills Coach for the 2026/2027 season.

When Matthew first joined the club two years ago, he arrived as a stranger. Today, he’s an integral part of our coaching team, our culture, and our journey.

His commitment to developing players, willingness to learn, and support both on and off the field have helped create an environment where our young players can grow, improve and enjoy their rugby.

Matthew has played an important role in the success we’ve achieved together, including becoming Dragons Division One Champions and reaching the Dragons Cup Final.

More importantly, he has built strong relationships throughout the squad and continues to make a positive impact on the next generation of Steelmen.

We’re excited to continue this journey together and look forward to seeing Matthew help shape another season of development, hard work and success.

Congratulations, Matthew, and thank you for your continued commitment to Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth.

As one chapter closes, another begins.

After years of dedication to Ebbw Vale Steelmen Youth, Steve Biggs will be taking a well-earned step back from his coaching role.

While he’ll still be around supporting the club, his presence on the training field and touchline will certainly be missed.

Steve has been far more than just a coach. His guidance, support and commitment have helped shape not only better rugby players, but better young men. The impact he has had on our players, both on and off the field, will continue long into the future.

This season also marks an exciting new chapter for the Biggs family, as Steve supports Zac in his senior rugby journey. A proud moment for any rugby parent and one that is thoroughly deserved.

During Steve’s time with the Steelmen, the squad achieved some memorable success, including:
