🎾 Padel might be the new craze, but the price of playing it can soon add up…

At Old Town Hub CIC, an entire household can enjoy a full year of tennis and pickleball membership for just £50.

That’s £50 per household for the year, not £50 for a single hour!

Tennis and pickleball offer skill, fitness, competition and plenty of fun, without the premium price tag. Our courts are available throughout the year, giving local families an affordable way to keep active and enjoy racket sport together.

No inflated hourly fees. No complicated packages. Just brilliant community sport at a price that makes sense.

One household. Two racket sports. Twelve months. £50.

Investing in Our Community 🌿🎾

Old Town Hub CIC has now invested over £40,000 into Old Town Recreation Ground, helping to transform tired and underused facilities into spaces that the whole community can enjoy.

This investment has included major improvements to the tennis courts and the restoration of the former changing rooms, which now provide a thriving community café and refurbished public toilets, available to recreation ground visitors at no additional charge.

We have also created and maintained flower beds outside the café, helping the area feel brighter, more welcoming and properly cared for.

The work has received wider recognition through multiple LTA Parks Awards, celebrating the transformation of the courts and the success of making tennis more accessible and welcoming to the community. Aside from the Council, Old Town Hub CIC is now the largest financial contributor to the recreation ground.

Our contribution is not limited to the larger projects. At the recent Summer Fete, we donated more than £200 of court time and approximately £150 of sports and activity equipment, providing over £350 of support for one community event alone.

These are the little things that are not always seen, but they can make a big difference. Equipment, facilities, staff time, voluntary hours, planning and practical support are regularly provided behind the scenes without seeking recognition or financial return.

We continue to explore funding opportunities and develop projects across the recreation ground. With limited space and funding, our priority is to support improvements that offer the broadest possible benefit to the majority of people who use the Rec, while creating an inclusive space in which everyone feels welcome.

Our purpose has never been simply to operate the tennis courts or café. It is to protect, improve and invest in Old Town Recreation Ground as a whole, helping to create a more welcoming, active and sustainable community space for today and for future generations. 💚

🎾 Maintenance Notice

Courts 1 & 2 at Old Town Rec are closed for maintenance today.

We’re giving the courts a little bit of TLC so they stay safe, tidy and ready for plenty more rallies, volleys and “how did that go in?” moments.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while the work is carried out. Courts 3 & 4 remain available as normal unless shown otherwise on the booking system.

🎾 Out with the old… in with the NEW! 🎾

A little glow-up has landed on the courts at Old Town Rec, and this one is stretched, strapped, clipped and ready for action.

Old Town Hub CIC and Set2Win are delighted to share that we’ve now installed 4 brand new tennis nets and straps across the courts. It might sound like a simple upgrade, but anyone who plays regularly will know that a proper net makes a huge difference. It sharpens up the court, improves the feel of every session, and gives the whole place that fresh “ready for battle” tennis energy.

The old nets had served their time. They’d taken thousands of rallies, coaching sessions, family hits, after-school battles, early morning cardios, windy winter sessions, summer tournaments, and probably more net-cord winners than anyone would care to admit. They’ve done their duty. But now it’s time for the new recruits to take centre court. 💪

These new nets are part of our continued commitment to keeping the facilities at Old Town Rec improving bit by bit, season by season. Every membership, court booking, coaching session and bit of support helps us keep reinvesting back into the courts and the wider community space.

It’s not always the huge projects that make the biggest difference. Sometimes it’s the details: a better net, a tighter strap, a cleaner finish, a court that feels cared for when you walk through the gate. That’s the standard we want people to feel when they come down to play.

A big thank you to everyone who books, plays, supports, coaches, volunteers, brings their children along, grabs a coffee after a hit, or simply believes in what we’re trying to build here. The courts are here for the community, and upgrades like this are only possible because the community keeps showing up.

So next time you’re down at Old Town Rec, enjoy the fresh net sparkle. Just remember, if your shot clips the tape and drops over, that’s not luck anymore… that’s “new net magic.” ✨

Game on. 🎾

🎾 THE BIG SWITCH IS LIVE! 🎾

Out with the old, in with the... wait, where’s the button?

We have officially moved from ClubSpark to the Set2Win app. It’s live RIGHT NOW, so please bear with me while I figure out how to work it (and hopefully don't spend the whole weekend as a tech support hotline!).

Your "Don't Panic" Guide:

Keep your membership: It’s still active! You just need to activate your account on the Set2Win app to keep playing.

Booking a court? Look for the "Court Bookings" tab at the very bottom of your screen.

New Memberships & Details: Tap the three dots in the top right corner and click "Your Account."
The "Is it working?" Check: If you log in and things haven't updated or your membership looks a bit wonky, drop us a message and we’ll get it sorted manually.

Already had a booking? Check your messages! I’ve sent out new access codes to everyone who had a slot scheduled so you aren't left standing outside the gate doing shadow tennis.

See you on the courts—hopefully, I haven't locked myself out too!

Proud wall, proud hearts, proud venue 🎾🏆

We’ve just put our Tennis Sussex Awards up in the café and honestly… they look right at home (they’re basically part of the décor now 😄).

On the wall you’ll spot:
🏅 Community & Parks Award
🏅 Development Coach Award
🏅 Parks Venue Award

These aren’t “stick on a shelf and forget” awards. They’re a little snapshot of what happens here every day at Old Town Hub CIC across Set2Win and First Serve Café: people turning up, getting active, improving, laughing, learning, and making the Rec feel like a proper community HQ.

Want to be part of it?
✅ Play on the courts
✅ Book a Set2Win coaching session
✅ Grab an individual session
✅ Then refuel at First Serve Café (coffee and cake also count as training, unofficially ☕🍰)

Come join the story. Next chapter could be yours 💙

Old Town Hub CIC is officially LTA Parks Venue of the Year 2026 WINNER! 🏆🎾

A massive thank you to Tennis Sussex for the recognition and for shining a spotlight on the amazing parks venues across Sussex. To be chosen from so many brilliant community facilities is an absolute honour, and we’re genuinely buzzing.

This award is a celebration of what’s possible when a park becomes more than green space, it becomes a place where people meet, move, laugh, learn, compete, and feel part of something. And yes… Old Town Rec is officially on the map! 📍✨

A huge thank you to all our directors for the time, energy, and heart that goes into building something the community can be proud of.

A big thanks too Set2Win for providing affordable, fun coaching and helping make the courts a welcoming place for everyone, whatever their age or level. 🎾🙌

Big shout out to First Serve Café for being the true hub of the park, keeping everyone fuelled, and bringing the community together day in, day out. Coffee, chats, post-match catchups, and those little moments that make a park feel like home. ☕️💛

Huge thanks to Fit. By Maria for bringing the energy and delivering amazing fitness classes that get people moving, smiling, and feeling stronger every week. 💪✨

And a special, heartfelt shout out to Mark Moorton. Mark was a director, a true champion of the park, and his sudden passing was felt deeply by so many. This award is dedicated to him, with gratitude and love. 💛

Here’s to community sport, parks with purpose, and keeping the momentum rolling all year long.
