🌟 Good Afternoon, Mini Badgers! ⚽

We have an important update regarding our Friday Night Football sessions for the next two weeks.

With the evenings getting darker earlier at this time of year, we are making a few temporary changes to ensure our sessions can continue safely.

⚽ Friday Night Football – Next Two Weeks

For the next two weeks, both our younger and older sessions will run from 6:00pm–7:00pm.

Players will be split into the following groups:

⚽ Group 1: Year 1 – Pitch 6
⚽ Group 2: Years 2–4 – Pitch 5
⚽ Group 3: Years 5–6 – Pitch 3
⚽ Group 4: Years 7–9 – Pitch 4

If you are unsure which pitch your child should be on, please check the attached map or speak to a member of the Friday Night Football team.

💷 Entry: £3.50

Please make sure your child has shin pads and appropriate footwear for the session.

🎟️ Check-In & Payments

A member of our Friday Night Football team will be available in the canteen to check players in and collect payment/stamps.

We accept both cash and card payments.

📸 Photography

If you would prefer your child not to appear in photographs taken during the session, please collect a red wristband from the check-in desk.

🍔 Food & Drinks

We’ll have a selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks and hot food available throughout the evening, including burgers and hot dogs.

⚽ THREE IN A ROW FOR THE YOUNG BADGERS! 🦡🔥

Another resounding away result for Retford Under 9s Whites, making it three on the bounce — and what a performance it was!

Four different goalscorers found the net, with Luan stealing the show with four goals to continue his incredible run of form in front of goal.

After only forming in July, Retford Under 9 Whites are already starting to forge a reputation in the league, with opposition teams now well aware of the challenge that awaits them.

Fully motivated after their recent performances, Retford were ready to go again and made a fantastic start.

It wasn’t long before Adam found the net, finishing off a great move after receiving an excellent pass from Harley at the back. Shortly afterwards, Louie S doubled the lead with a good turn inside the box before calmly finishing underneath the goalkeeper.

The opposition responded and began to cause problems, eventually pulling a goal back with a fantastic finish into the top corner.

A quick team talk and a change of formation brought a renewed appetite from the young Badgers in the second quarter, and it wasn’t long before Luan stole the show.

His first of four came in spectacular fashion, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and producing a superb lob from outside the box to put Retford firmly back in control.

From there, the boys produced a commanding display. Vincent continued to orchestrate things brilliantly from the goalkeeper’s area, while the whole team showed fantastic energy, determination and togetherness.

Retford continued to press and were rewarded with further strikes. Adam grabbed his second of the game before Ethan wrapped things up with a superb finish into the bottom corner, using the inside of his foot with real composure.

And then there was Luan, who completed his incredible four-goal haul to cap off another outstanding individual performance and gain the player of the match award ⚽⚽⚽⚽

A fantastic team performance away from home for the young Badgers! 🦡👏

U14 Blacks turn on the style

The incredible attitude of our u14 Blacks was evident in a 9-0 victory against Edlington White Stars today.

Going into the game with a squad in need of additional reinforcements, every player knew they’d have to work incredibly hard to compete for the entirety of the match. From the first whistle, the team battled hard and played some fantastic football, creating goal scoring chances throughout the game. The positivity and teamwork on the pitch was a pleasure to watch, with goals from 6 different players giving an indication of the strength of the performance. A commanding victory sees our u14 Blacks sitting top of league 2 in the early season standings.

⚫️⚪️ Another brilliant performance from the U10 Blacks today! ⚽️

There were so many positives throughout the team that it’s genuinely difficult to fit them all into one match report!

First of all, a fantastic start for our new goalkeeper Casper, who made some excellent saves when called upon and looked confident in his first game with the team. 👏🧤

Once again, the boys played some really good team football. We were incredibly difficult to play through, with strong tackling all over the pitch, but what was particularly pleasing was what we did after winning the ball. We regularly put passes together, moved forward as a team and caused endless problems in the opposition box.

Our first goal came from a great piece of play by Lani. He won the ball out wide and worked it into the box for Jan to get a shot away. The goalkeeper made the initial save, but Spencer was waiting for the loose ball and absolutely hammered it home! ⚽️

Jan was next with an excellent solo effort. His first shot was almost kept out, but Jan did exactly what we’re always asking the boys to do: follow your shot! He reacted immediately and made absolutely sure the loose ball ended up in the net. ⚽️

Then came an absolute 🚀 from Oliver! He went on a brilliant run down the wing before unleashing a howitzer of a strike to finish it off. ⚽️💥

In the final quarter, Nate continued to look right at home in the centre-back position he’s been thriving in recently. He won the ball and helped build another attack, setting up captain Harrison to find the net. ⚽️

Harrison wasn’t finished there either, adding another before the final whistle to complete his brace. ⚽️⚽️

There were standout contributions everywhere.

Lani definitely deserves a special mention. His confidence continues to grow every week. Today he won us several kick-ins and a corner, played a big part in creating our first goal and had two efforts on target himself. That first goal of his feels like it’s getting closer and closer! 👏

Our defenders also deserve huge credit. Harley, George, Reuben, Oliver, Nate and Frankie all put in the work to win the ball and then turn defence into attack. Keeping a clean sheet isn’t something we’ve managed too many times before, and it certainly wasn’t handed to them today. 🧱🧤

Out wide, William, Spencer, Lani and Harrison worked tirelessly, constantly applying pressure and getting the ball into dangerous areas over and over again.

🏆 Man of the Match – Oliver

An outstanding performance from warm-up to final whistle.

Before the game and throughout it, Oliver showed brilliant team spirit by using his own goalkeeping experience to help Casper through his first match and make sure he knew what he needed to do. 👏

Once the game started, everything we’ve been encouraging Oliver to add to his game seemed to click into place. He held his position and did his defensive job brilliantly, but when the opportunity came to attack, he drove forward with confidence.

He dribbled through players, got his head up and released the ball at the right moments, helped build attacks and topped it all off with an absolute rocket of a goal.

A fantastic all-round performance and a very deserved Man of the Match. 🏆👏

⚽ Brodsworth Main Reds 2–1 Retford United Whites ⚽
A frustrating morning for the Whites away at Brodsworth Main Reds.
Retford started brightly and enjoyed the better of the first half, creating the clearer chances and controlling much of the game. Despite their strong start, the Whites found themselves 1–0 down at the break against the run of play.

The second half was a much tougher contest, with Brodsworth controlling large periods of possession and making it difficult for Retford to get on the ball and play their usual team game. The hosts doubled their lead from the penalty spot midway through the half to make it 2–0.

Elliot pulled a goal back with a superb individual effort to set up a tense finish. Despite pushing for an equaliser, Retford were unable to find a second goal and Brodsworth held on for the win.

👏 Player of the Match: Aggy, who produced several outstanding saves to keep the Whites in the game and gave the team a chance right until the final whistle.
