Ten years ago the EK Fitness charity bootcamp was one session with a handful of members and a bucket for donations. It’s grown every year since, and along the way we’ve raised more than £30,000 as a gym — money that’s gone to different causes each year, chosen because they mattered to someone in this gym.
This year it’s the Brave Positive Strong Foundation, supporting children with cancer. Their message is simple: making the hard days brighter.
Saturday 5th September, 08:30. £5 a head, every penny to the Brave Positive Strong Foundation. If you’ve never come to one of these, this is the year to start.

I became a trustee of the Brave Positive Strong Foundation this year. It's a new foundation — set up in 2026 — and it's close to me, which is why this year's charity bootcamp is going to them and not somewhere else.
Ten years of this bootcamp have taught me something: the charity changes, but the reason people turn up doesn't. They come because someone they know has been touched by whatever the cause is that year, and they want to do something with their Saturday morning to help make a difference.
This year, that's Brave Positive Strong. New foundation, and every pound from this bootcamp goes straight to them.
Saturday 5th September, 08:30. £5 on the door. Come and be part of the start of something.

Our July 2026 member of the month is:
Danny Gemmell
Danny tackles his training head on and with no fuss.
He joined the gym to improve his overall health and fitness. He runs his own business, so mornings matter - getting his session in early, before the day gets hold of him, sets him up for whatever it throws at him. He enjoys his running too, and you’ll often see him after the 5.30am class going out for a run.
Danny’s strength has gone through the roof. His PB week numbers show a 100kg bench press, 140kg deadlift, 55kg overhead press and a 105kg squat.
He is a dream to coach. “Can you go heavier?” “Yeah I’ll give it a go.” As a coach, what is not to love about that 💪
We love having you as part of the gym!
Well done mate 🤝

Nothing in this gym has ever matched. It never has.
When I started, half the equipment came from Argos. The rest was whatever I could find second hand, wherever I could find it.
That bench in the picture, the one with the rips in it, my dad helped me buy it back when this was just an idea I was chasing. It’s been dropped on, sat on, stood on thousands of times since. These days the coaches use it to demonstrate exercises before every session.
It’s torn to bits. I could replace it in five minutes. I won’t.
None of this happened on its own. Every person who’s walked in and put the work in built this with me, whether they know it or not. I’m proud of what’s here. I’m prouder of who’s in it.

I don’t think motivation is real, at least not in the way people talk about it. Nobody wakes up buzzing to train on a cold Tuesday in November. What actually happens is people who train consistently have stopped waiting to feel like it.
That’s not a discipline thing either. It’s just a decision that’s already been made, so there’s nothing left to negotiate with yourself about. The people who ask me how to “stay motivated” are usually looking for a feeling that was never going to show up on its own.

Chapter 39 today 🎂
Another year of taking us around the world and creating incredible memories for us. Another year of love and support and making sure we all know what we are doing and where we should be.
Have the best day, we love you very much 💙

Had someone this morning tell me they nearly cancelled. Said they were tired, work had been heavy, didn’t think they had it in them today. Came anyway. Forty minutes later she was laughing about how close she came to talking herself out of it.
This is the bit people don’t see when they think about training. It’s not the session that matters most. It’s the five minutes before it, when you’re deciding whether to show up at all. Everything good that happens in this gym happens after someone wins that argument with themselves.

Strong doesn't have to mean obsessed, and it takes far less time than most people assume.
Two or three sessions a week, kept up steadily over months, does more than the occasional all-out week ever will.
You get harder to tire out.
Steadier on your feet.
More capable on the day life suddenly asks something physical of you and doesn't check whether it's convenient first.
That's the return on a few hours a week.
If that's the kind of strong you're after, message us on Instagram or Facebook and we'll tell you how to start.
