Tuesday evening coaching a probationary member who's using a club 1907. Basic process OK but position was a little slack and there was a tendency to move the butt around in their shoulder during the detail.

So, tightened the sling one notch and a discussion about letting the sling take the weight, and maintaining the shoulder pressure particularly during operation of the bolt to help keep the butt-plate in the same location as moving the butt-plate fractionally will move the NPA.

I have to say, the results are not normally this impressive. The first two diagrams are groups of 5 each. Then the changes/discussion. The third diagram is a group of 6! 🎯😀

Spent Sunday afternoon coaching a couple of shooters from Havant area.

The first one was reasonably advanced with a KK500 and was generally OK but wanted some fine tuning advice as 99s were getting common but they still hadn’t achieved their first ton. A quick review of their basic setup was conducted by both Mike and David White before David went through various topics in more detail and some of the latest thinking on head and cheekpiece positioning. Then they went onto the range so David could review the whole process. We must have done something right as they came back from the range with a first ton with every shot hitting the pip!🎯😀

The second one was about three weeks into owning their KK500. Mike Kettle went through a basic check of their whole process and setup including: butt-plate adjusted to fit shoulder better and adjustments to cheekpiece to get head better aligned. Also talked through some of the process theory and the need to get repeatability. Finishing with a visit to the range to test it all out.

When they left they were provided with some coaching notes to remind them of the topics raised during the afternoon and give them something to work on to improve their overall technique.
