Each session will have unopposed work in tight spaces, gaining confidence on the ball. As well as understanding why/when they can implement the skills in games.

1v1s, overloads, dealing with pressure in tight spaces. Every session we will transfer the unopposed work > opposed.

Huge well done to Theo on starting his journey with the Middlesbrough pre-academy. Theo has worked incredibly hard over the last few months, excelling in 1:1 and small group sessions. Consistently setting the standard and pushing himself to the maximum, showing a real hunger to improve each session💪

🏆 1v1 DEVELOPMENT TOURNAMENT 🏆

A fresh tournament format designed to give every player:

⚽ More touches
🧠 More decisions
💪 More confidence
🔥 More opportunities to express themselves

Players will compete individually in a series of fast-paced 1v1 matches where they’ll need to attack, defend, protect the ball and create their own chances.

There’s nowhere to hide and no teammate to do the work for you—it’s all about being brave, backing yourself and enjoying time on the ball!

Although there will be an overall winner, the main focus is player development. The tournament will be delivered in a positive, friendly environment by Lawrence Nichol from Skill Link Football, in partnership with GSK Coaching Academy.

Brilliant technical camp this morning.
The session was for u6/u7 and we were blown away by the levels today 🔥. 2.5 hours of development.

Tough session in the heat today, however the intensity didn’t drop. 60 mins of individual ball work, becoming confident with different skill combinations as well as having the opportunity to be creative and express.

Final 90 mins of the session it was opposed, working in tight spaces. dealing with pressure from behind, 1v1s.

The difference from unopposed > opposed was brilliant. Every player being creative and becoming more confident on the ball.

Class opportunity for Lucas Baines tonight training with SAFC pre academy.

Our youngest player who attends our sessions at only the age of 5, yet the talent on show is ridiculous. Taking on board details and applying them at a standard beyond his age.

The future is bright 💫

Class opportunity for these boys tonight to go and play NUFC.

The lads had a fantastic time, playing with confidence and expressing at all times. Every player put a shift in worked as a team, and played some brilliant football, confidence and good decision’s in terms of when to beat a player and when to move the ball. Some excellent linkup across the whole pitch, playing the game with speed as well as being unpredictable with good use of disguise and changes of speed/ direction in 1v1s.
