An enormous congratulations to Phil, who at the weekend completed the "Bob Graham round". If you havent heard of this challenge, have a Google - It's ridiculously hard!! 66 miles of running over incredibly difficult terrain and an insane 42 Lake District peaks totalling 29000ft of climbing (equivalent to climbing Mount Everest). And all that in 23 hours!! Well done Phil, you are amazing!!!

Huge congratulations to our club legend/stalwart Alan, who recently clocked up his 500th park run. Not only does he churn 5ks out like they're going out of fashion, he does them in 23/24;mins in his mid 70s! Alan sets the highest standards and gives inspiration to all of us, well done

If you can, please help our friends Durham City Junior Parkrun with their fundraising fundraising. Many of our members attend these parkruns and we will all recognise the importance of having the necessary medical equipment on hand in the event of an emergency. Please contribute if you can, thank you

Happy Bank Holiday junior parkrunners!!
Ahead of our normal run report, we need to ask a very important favour.....
We need to replace the pad paks and battery for our event defibrillator by the beginning of December. The total cost is £208, and we’d like to give ourselves plenty of time to raise the funds.
This equipment is essential — we cannot hold junior parkrun without a working AED. AEDs at parkrun events are proven life savers, so keeping ours fully operational is a priority.
There has been recent incidents at two of our local 'big' parkruns which have demonstrated exactly how life saving and important these bits of kit are.
💙 How to donate (please read carefully!) Please use the BLUE “Donate to this event” button on our page — NOT the yellow one. Here’s the link: 👉 https://www.parkrun.org.uk/durhamcity-juniors/aboutus/
Once you’re on that page: 1️⃣ Scroll down to the About Us section. 2️⃣ Click the BLUE “Donate to this event” button — this one donates directly to our event. 3️⃣ Avoid the yellow “Donate” button — that one goes to parkrun HQ, not us.
Every contribution helps us keep the event safe and running each week.
Thank you from the Durham City junior parkrun team.

"At 65 I'd never run before. I joined with trepidation but also with determination and now I'm into my 3rd year and 61 parkruns!"🏃
Debbie completed our Couch to 5K course in 2024 and hasn't stopped since. If that's not an advert for lacing up your trainers, we don't know what is.
Our next course starts Tuesday 8 September. Register your interest today: https://forms.gle/LV6R9RgBdNB4CWx26 👟

"I was really nervous before the first session as I was attending alone and didn't know what to expect — but honestly it was one of the best decisions I have made. The coaches were so welcoming and built you up from scratch no matter what your ability."
Phillippa came to us in 2025 having lost her running fitness after Covid. She could barely run 1K without stopping. She completed our Couch to 5K course in December, has since joined our Senior Transition Group, made new friends, AND month completed her first 5K race at the Durham City Run. 🎉
If you're thinking about joining us in September, take Phillippa's advice: just go for it. You'll be fitter in no time, and you'll meet some great people along the way.
📅 Starting Tuesday 8 September at 6:45pm 📍 Durham city locations 💰 £20 for the full 10-week course — open to anyone aged 18 and over.
