Brandon United made it two games unbeaten under new manager Paul Mullen after an entertaining 3–3 draw away at Shotton Colliery.

Brandon made an excellent start and raced into a 3–0 lead. Ryan Kazadi opened the scoring with a superb effort from outside the box, before Liam Garrett made it two goals in two games since joining the club earlier this week. Peter Jason then added a third to put Brandon firmly in control.

Shotton pulled one back before half-time, sending the sides in at 3–1.

An injury forced Brandon into a reshuffle defensively at the start of the second half, and Shotton took advantage. A free-kick from the edge of the box made it 3–2 before the hosts eventually found an equaliser.

The game then settled down, with neither side able to find a winner.

Disappointing not to take all three points after such a strong start, but there were still plenty of positives to take from another good performance.

Brandon United are back on the road this afternoon as they make the trip to face Shotton Colliery in the Wearside Premier League.

Paul Mullen’s side head into the game following Wednesday night’s 4–4 draw with Belmont United, a match which saw Brandon battle back from 3–1 down before eventually having to settle for a point.

There were plenty of positives to take from the midweek performance, Brandon will be looking to build on those as they face another test in the league this afternoon.

⚽ FULL TIME | Brandon United 4–4 Belmont United

Brandon United and Belmont United shared the points in an entertaining 4–4 draw at the Welfare Ground last night.

Belmont took an early lead and doubled their advantage shortly before half-time, but debutant Liam Garrett pulled one back for Brandon before the break to make it 2–1.

Brandon started the second half brightly, but it was Belmont who struck next to restore their two-goal lead at 3–1.

The response was a good one. Frankie Watton produced a superb finish to make it 3–2 before substitute Giselle Gill levelled the game.

Another substitute, Peter Jason, then made an immediate impact to put Brandon 4–3 ahead, only for Belmont to equalise a couple of minutes later.

Jason had a great chance to win it with around ten minutes remaining, but his effort went agonisingly wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Brandon were then reduced to ten men when Prince Edet was shown a red card following a scuffle, with a Belmont substitute also dismissed in the aftermath.

The lads saw out the final few minutes to take a point from a very open game.

The visitors secured their first point of the season against Pools Youth on Saturday and will prove stern opposition as Brandon look to get their own season up and running.

Two penalties, two red cards and three goals in an open, well battled contest - on another day the result may well have gone the other way.

A great reaction to Tuesday and one which sets a marker for the upcoming fixtures.
