One very hot July afternoon in 2018, we were filmed in a beautiful community hall in Crook.
The BBC was looking for community groups from each county, from martial arts groups to sausage dog walkers, and there we were, representing Durham with our swing dancing.
I thought we would simply be part of a crowd scene, happily dancing away in the background as extras. Little did I know that Lindy Jazz would end up front and centre, introducing BBC programmes for the next two years!
It was such a fun project and such a brilliant memory. We had no idea, standing there on that hot summer day, just how often our dancing would pop up on people’s screens.
And yes, I still wish they had used swing music instead of a boom-boom beat. But we danced anyway and had so much fun!

Have you tried HaveBallroom and Latin? Do you fancy trying Lindy Hop?
Lindy Hop is a partner dance, but it has its own lovely feel.
It is less formal than Ballroom, more relaxed than competitive dancing, and full of bounce, rhythm and play.
