British Rowing Club Championships - British Rowing 16/07/2026

Four days of competition in the British Rowing Club Championships start tomorrow at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.

All the details can be found on the competition webpage at the link below.

Each event starts with a time trial followed by semi-finals and finals. Durham ARC has 18 entries, as follows -

🏆 AIDAN TAKES THE WIN IN GRAVELINES 🏆

Saturday saw Aidan Lawlor head to Gravelines, France after being selected to represent GB in the M1x for the annual J16 GB - France Match.

Having successfully navigated his way through trials 2 weeks ago, Aidan cemented his selection with a win on Saturday in a time of 5:57.002 over the 1500m course 💪

Hopefully the first of many for Aidan wearing a GB vest! Huge congratulations to Aidan and all of Team GB 🇬🇧 👏

Thanks must go to Wayne and Owen of Cambois Rowing Club for the support and logistics this weekend 🙌

Aidan along with his fellow juniors will be heading to Nottingham this coming weekend for British Rowing Championships to round of a long and successful season! More on that soon! 👀

🇬🇧 FIRST STEPS INTO GB FOR AIDAN 🇬🇧

Congratulations to Aidan Lawlor who is one of 54 J16 athletes selected to represent Great Britain in the GB v France Match at Gravelines, France at the weekend. Aidan has been selected to race in the Men's Single Sculls following trials at the National Watersports Centre on June 28th, having won a gold medal in the event at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta in April.

The team selection was announced this week by British Rowing at https://www.britishrowing.org/2026/07/54-athletes-selected-for-annual-gb-vs-france-match/

The GB v France J16 Match represents the first step on the British Rowing Olympic Performance Pathway, potentially paving the way for future Olympic champions within the team.

Thanks to Talkin Tarn for hosting a successful Regatta day on Saturday in which Durham ARC recorded victories in 8 events from 32 entries, ensuring a respectable third position in the overall club standings.

Crews handled the breezy conditions well with winning performances coming from the following -

• J15 4x+ Fortis
• WJ15 4x+ Ajaz
• WJ16 4x- Anderson
• Women’s 2x Williams
• Women’s 1x Maddison
• Mixed 4x- Fortis
• WMasC 4x+ Colclough

The fourth round of the Sunday League took place at Hexham today with DARC Materials taking part for the first time and picking up 4 points from their 4 races in the Women's division.

The British Rowing Club Championships at Nottingham between July 17th and 20th round off the regatta season for most, before head racing returns in the autumn.
