We’re delighted to invite your club to take part in this year’s Firth of Clyde ‘Wee Trophy’ competition at Largs Golf Club on Sunday 13 September 2026.

To help with your planning, please find the key details for the day below:

Handicap Limit: handicap index from 10.6 to a maximum of 24.9
Arrival: from 0930hrs
Tea/Coffee and a hot filled roll will be available on arrival.
Start format: Shotgun start at 1100hrs
Presentation and Meal: From approximately 1500hrs

To assist us in catering arrangements, we would be grateful if you could advise of any food allergies or specific dietary requirements for your players in advance. This will help ensure we can accommodate everyone safely and appropriately on the day.

The catering cost is £5 per player, and we kindly ask that this is paid in advance for your full team.

Keep the excitement going after the Cowal Highland Gathering and tee it up at Cowal Golf Club! ⛳️✨

We are proud to host The Jim Carroll Memorial Open on Sunday, 30th August 2026. Open to both female and male golfers with a valid WHS index, this 18-hole handicap Stableford competition will take place over our shorter "loop" course from the white tees.

Key Event Details:
Date: Sunday 30th August 2026
Format: 18-Hole Handicap Stableford ("Loop" course)
Eligibility: Open to female & male golfers with a valid WHS index (Under 18s welcome to enter, but ineligible for the sweep).
Entry Fees: £10 for Members | £15 for Visitors (Includes sweep & 2s for ages 18+)

Four of our members played Trump Turnberry in the seniors open. An amazing course and fun was had. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

The weather held out for this years 125 Scramble and there were high spirits as the teams of three headed out to battle for the prestigious trophy. When the scores were counted it was the Three Musketeers that would take the title in a close battle with a net 56. From left to right in the photo - Aramis: A handsome young man torn between romance, court duties, and his secret wish to join the church said that while they were a team it was a battle between them all. Porthos: Loud, tall, strong, and very fond of fine clothes and food was looking to see what refreshments were available and picked up a lovely bottle of red wine and stated he was a winner before even hitting a ball. Athos: The oldest, quiet, and noble leader of the group who hides a dark and sad past didn’t say much other than a few lipped out. The trophy was presented by D'Artagnan aka The Captain D’Torrence.

It was an enjoyable day and some great golf was played. The club would like to thank the greenskeepers for having the course looking and playing amazing. Thanks to all who turned out 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

It’s been a busy day in the ladies competitions. In the 18 hole Medal Final it was the ever present Shonna Derrett who lifted the silver. Meanwhile In the Abu Dhabi Rosebowl it was Katie Houston who lifted the trophy with a magnificent 18 points. 1 point behind was Margaret Lauder with 17 and in third was Margaret Gallagher also on 17 but beaten in the count back. A close game indeed.. Well done to all the ladies who turned out 🏌🏻‍♀️⛳️

CAPTAINS ROSEBOWL - Sun 23rd August

Course: Loop course from the White Tees
Competition Zones:
1. 8:24 - 8:40
2. 10:24 - 10:56
3. 12:40 - 13:04
Entry Fee: £5.00 per player.

Entry can be made via the Scottish Golf App or direct with Cowal Golf Club by email - [email protected].

Scorecards will be generated in the Scottish Golf App. The Draw will be made and shared with the competitors after entries close on Saturday 22nd at 12:00.

Innellan Golf Club

Some big completions have taken place over the last two weeks and there has been some fantastic golf. The October medal was convincingly won by Gordon Livingston with an outstanding 59 that included 10 pars and 2 birdies. Second with 63 was Alasdair Simpson with 63 and third was Derek Purdie with a 64. The December medal was won by Billy McBride with a 64, second was Andy Rodger with a 65 and Gordon Livingston third with 67.
The Ex Presidents trophy which is the oldest at the club was won by Stewart Campbell with a 63, second was Gordon Livingston with a 64 and third was Robin Henry with a 66.
The Saturday series week 15 saw Gordon Livingston yet again take the top spot with a 61 just edging Shonna Derrett into second on the count back who also had a 61. Third was Gordon Miller with 65. Week 16 of the series and it was Shonna Derrett in 1st with 39 pts, Gordon Miller 2nd with 37 and Gordon Livingston in third with 34.
The Wednesday series was won by Andy Holland with 20 pts, second was Duncan Lauder with 18 and third was James Gallagher with 16.
The ladies 9 hole stableford saw Margaret Gallagher win with 21, seconds was Shonna Derrett with 16 and third was Sandie Gemmell with 16.
Finally the biggest comp of the year. It’s was a magnificent Royal Hotel Trophy this year with some amazing golf being played in what were ideal conditions. Over 40 players turned up to play for two prestigious trophies.
For the best gross score and the Royal Hotel Trophy it was Andrew Barton of Cowal Golf Club who claimed top spot with a sensational round of 66 that included 12 pars and 2 birdies. Second was Billy McBride of Innellan with a fantastic 69 that included a whopping 5 birdies. Third was Brian Emery of Innellan with a great 70 that included 10 pars and a birdie.
In the best net competition and the Tom Muir Quaich it was Innellans Billy McBride who lifted the trophy with a superb 58. Second and early club house leader was Innellans Simon McMahon with a 60 and third was president of Innellan and head Greenskeeper Billy McLaughlin with fantastic 61.
It was a great day of golf and the club would like to thank the greens keepers for having the course in such wonderful condition. We would also like to thank the volunteers including Ian Kennedy who spent the day keeping the scores, Douglas Wright starting the play in an orderly manner and others for selling raffle tickets and keeping us entertained in the clubhouse. Finaly the Club would like to thank Cowal Building and Plumbing Supplies for their continued support and sponsorship.
Congratulations to Andrew and Billy who have their names on the cups.

125 SCRAMBLE - SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST

Dear Members

The 125 Scramble is this Sunday 16th August, and all are welcome,as long as you have a handicap index.

Please muster at 9am for allocation of teams and team handicap.

This is a shotgun start and course will be closed until 2pm.

This is a fun event and a great way to meet others in the club and socialise.

CANCELLED - INNELLAN LEG OF CAPTAINS ROSE BOWL.

Today’s Captains Rose Bowl at Innellan has been cancelled due to flooded greens. The bowl will be decided over one leg at Cowal on the 23rd 🌧️☔️🏌️‍♂️⛳️
