The Tyrone Senior Club Championship kicks off this Thursday, with Edendork taking on Ardboe at 7.30pm...and the action keeps coming all weekend long! 🙌

On Sunday night, Killyclogher take on Errigal Ciaran at Healy Park 👀so why not stop into Canavan’s for dinner beforehand, then call back when it’s all over for a few pints! 😉🍻

The lads have had a great season so far one last push for the final game 🏐

With the Hall Car Park gone and single lane traffic at the new school, parking will be difficult for Rusty's Funeral.

We will have Stewards on hand to help. Please avail of the Old Coalisland Road and the Club.

It's a work day so please make sure you are parked so the traffic can keep moving.

Our club and the entire Edendork community and beyond are deeply saddened at the passing of Martin, someone who we all held in extremely high regard.

When the term ‘character’ was coined, it must surely have been with people like him in mind.

He had a sense of humour like no other. Many have a knack of entering a room and lighting it up, but Rusty could have it bouncing in seconds.

Behind it all however he was as caring and considerate a person as it is possible to meet. His love for Roisin as well as James and Hannah was clear and evident for all the world to see.

At this time, many of us will be thinking of his father Raymond and of course his late mother Bridget, another character who will long be remembered.

Bridget will no doubt have been standing waiting on him yesterday morning. Rusty was a loving and loyal son to both and the term ‘the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree’ was never more true.

Not the most gifted of Gaelic Footballers it has to be said, despite his many claims of point kicking and midfield dominance, Marty was a huge and intrinsic part of our Club. An avid supporter, he was always in attendance and was present at our most recent Senior matches despite his ailing health.

He loved Edendork to his core and he was extremely proud to be able to support our Senior and reserve teams with Jerseys that they have worn on many occasions.

There have been many memories shared over the last couple of days. Many will remember when he participated in Strictly with Veronica and in particular when he was out canvassing for votes.

Another eventful occasion was when he completed the ‘Sea to Summit’ challenge in Westport. The organisers got their gradings wrong and Rusty was declared the outright winner.

His Jerseys adorned the logo of his business, ‘Currie Crane Hire’ He built this business for his family from the ground up. Ably assisted by Roisin and later James, he became renowned as a leader and expert in the Crane Hire sector across the North of Ireland.

He ran his business with the same determination and fortitude with which he fought his illness.

At no time over the last 18 months like the rest of his life did he ever think he was beaten. Even in recent weeks he backed himself and was confident that he could overcome this challenge.

Unfortunately for Rusty and his family and plenty more, this wasn’t to be.

We will all miss his friendship and above all having the Craic with him.

He would pull anyone out of hole.

We extend our most sincere condolences to the entire Currie and McCann families and promise our prayers and support in the time ahead.

Passed away peacefully on Monday 24th August, at hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband of Roisin (née McCann), cherished father of James and Hannah and dear son of Raymond and the late Bridget R.I.P.

Rusty will repose at his late residence (2 Weaver's Brae, Derryvale) from Monday 8pm.
Strictly private from 10pm on both nights.

Removal on Wednesday morning at 12.15pm to arrive at St Malachy's Edendork for 1pm Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers to Action Cancer.
