Barnhill Bowling Club

New Chair Yoga class coming to Barnhill BC, commencing Friday 18th September, 11.00am - 12.00pm.

Open to all within the local community. Suitable for beginners.

Congratulations to David Ramsay and John Dowie in the City of Dundee Senior Pairs, semi final defeating Muirhead to progress to the Final at Lochee BC tomorrow night at 6.00pm.

The Club held it's annual Baldowrie Mixed Triples competition yesterday.

The event consisted of a round robin involving five games of 7 ends, leading to the two teams with most points contesting the Final, of nine ends.

With the weather being kind throughout and after some fine bowling in the round robin the Triples of Hazel Taylor, David Ramsay and Graeme Cairns together with Ray McLernon, Alison Johnston, and John Dowie qualified through to the Final.

The Final proved to be evenly contested however the triple of Ray McLernon, Alison Johnston and John Dowie prevailed coming out winners.

Congratulations to the winning rink. Thanks to all competitors and special thanks to Dougal H***e who organised and oversaw the smooth running of the days event.

Finally the Club is grateful to Baldowrie Garage, Monifieth for their continued sponsorship of this tournament.

The Club held it's Purves Open Mixed Fours yesterday. While starting off in wet conditions the weather improved and finished warm and bright.

Congratulations to the winning Four of Jean Brown, Alison Hall, Graeme Cairns and Mike Bruhn. Commiserations to the Runners Up, Phylady Spink, Angela Cormack, David Cormack and Iain Coull..

Thanks to all Members and Guests who took part and contributed to a great day if bowling.

Our sincere thanks go to the event Sponsors, William Purves Funeral Directors for their support. They were represented on the day by Colin McGinlay and Paige Duncan. Their attendance was greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Doug Tunbridge for organising the event and to Lynne Tunbridge for her hard work in the kitchen and to those who assisted throughout the day keeping everyone fed and to Gary Thomson on the bar.

Club Championships.

Congratulations to Iain Coull on becoming the Gents Champion. In a closely contested final he defeated Graeme Cairns 21 - 20.

Congratulations also go to Lynne Tunbridge on becoming the Ladies Champion. Again in a close contest she overcame Moira Martin 21 - 15.

A big well done to both our Champions and many commiserations to Graeme and Moira.

The Club is grateful to the Arnold Clark Community Fund for their grant award which has allowed the Club to purchase a specialised wheelchair. This modified wheelchair will give people of all ages with mobility difficulties the opportunity to continue or take up the sport of lawn or indoor bowls. The purchase of this piece of equipment is part of the Club’s commitment to the local community and we encourage anyone who wishes to try out the chair to contact the Club (email - [email protected]).

Our thanks also go to Byron Boyd, Sales Manager, Arnold Clark, Kingsway, for visiting the Club to make the official presentation. Club members Phyllis McGregor and Peter Knox were delighted to have the opportunity to test out the chair.

Both Gents and Ladies Club Championships are being held on Friday 24th July, commencing 6.30pm.

The Gents Finalists
are Graeme Cairns and Iain Coull.

The Ladies Finalists are Moira Martin and Lynne Tunbridge.
