The club are honoured to be hosting both the U14 and U16 Scottish Cup Finals at Victory Park tomorrow.

The U14 final is up first at 11am, contested by Carlton and Clydesdale.

Followed by the U16 final at 3pm with SPCU teams Perth Doo’cot and Aberdeenshire fighting it out for the honours.

Another successful evenings work for the Under 14 squad as they defeated Rossie on a beautiful evening at the Priory.
Retirements with the bat from Ava and Theo were backed up by Kari’s fourth retirement in a row 🔥
She backed it up with two sharp stumpings as 3 wickets from Ivan and 2 from Eli had the home side reeling before Finn grabbed his first U14 wicket. The skipper sealed the victory with a direct hit run out from fine leg to complete a fine evening all round.

A big congratulations to Lily and Ava who represented Scotland Under 19s in their tour down south last week. They recorded victories over Shropshire and Derbyshire with defeats to Lancashire and Durham.
Ava went into the week in fine form after another 5 wicket haul for the Grampian Thistles in their WPL game at Stewart’s Melville last Sunday.
Ava is again in Scotland action this week with the Under 15s down at the BA Festival at Barnard Castle.

Murray Scott played a key part in Meigle Cricket Club's impressive win over title chasing Perth Doo’cot last time out and he is keen to help the team finish the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union North East Championship campaign on a high.

Since they returned to this level from the Eastern Premier League it has been a summer of ups and downs for the Meigle first team and they are currently sixth in the 10-team table with four matches remaining.

On their day there is no doubt that the club which is celebrating its 150th anniversary can mix it with any team in the league and they showed that last Saturday when they toppled Perth Doo’cot at Victory Park as 151 all out played 111 all out.

Scott, 29, scored a crucial 32 with the bat down the order and then took 2-13 with his off spin and the bowler said: “It felt great to win that game.

“Historically there's always been a rivalry between Meigle and Perth Doo’cot and both teams really wanted to win this one.

“When I came into bat we were 46 for 6 and it felt like a pretty dire situation. However, having opening batsman Alan Neave at the other end gave me a huge confidence boost. He's a class operator and I wanted to stay in as long as possible to support him because I know he's capable of a big score. We just went about our business and he made a brilliant 72 not out to get us up to 151 and that gave us something to defend.

“The team's got a really positive outlook this year and everyone's getting on really well and working hard for each other which is what you need when you're defending a small total. Everyone contributed in the second half, we kept the pressure on, took wickets at key times and got the victory.

“Coming down from the Eastern Premier League was always going to be hard as we lost around half of our team so this has been a season of rebuilding and consolidating.

“I think the North East Championship is probably the strongest it's ever been. We have four league games left so it would be good to have a little run and finish in the top half as our 150th anniversary continues.

Scott grew up in Blairgowrie and was introduced to cricket at a Perth and Kinross taster session run by Kirsteen Ross.

“I just started enjoying it from there, I was about 12 or 13 and I haven’t looked back,” Scott explained.

“A few friends and I started playing at Meigle soon after that taster session and my time at the club has been fantastic.

“Meigle really is a great club, it's offered me so many opportunities and things I never thought I'd be able to do, for example I spent a season in New Zealand when I was in my late teens through connections that the club had with a previous professional.

“The Drummond family are instrumental in what goes on at the club and are Scottish cricket royalty. Their knowledge and advice - and that from other members - means you can never go too far wrong and I enjoy being part of things at Meigle.”

In the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union North East Championship tomorrow, Meigle are away to Crescent-Dunecht with Stoneywood Dyce-Strathmore Cricket Club, Perth Doo'cot Cricket Club-FREUCHIE CRICKET CLUB, Aberdeenshire-Huntly and Dundee High School FP Cricket Club-Glenrothes Cricket Club also taking place.
