The version of you that built the business may not be the version of you that can scale it.
That can be difficult to accept. In the early days, success often comes from being the person who:
๐ Knows everything.
Fixes everything.
Makes every decision.
Works harder than everyone else.
Holds everything together.
And for a while, that works.
But eventually, the behaviour that created your success can become the ceiling on your next stage of growth.
I believe that a growing business doesnโt need you to have every answer, but it needs you to create people who can find the answers without you.
The question changes from:
โW๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ?โ
to:
That is one of the biggest identity shifts a leader will ever make.
What are you still holding onto because it once made you successful?

Here is one of the biggest shift I've seen in successful business owners.
It's how they think.
At some point, they stop asking: "How do I work harder?"
And they start asking: "How do I build a business that doesn't rely on me for everything?"
The way they make decisions.
The way they lead their team.
The way they spend their time.
The way they define success.
It's easy to believe that growth comes from doing more.
In my experience...
Growth usually starts when you begin doing the right things, and let go of the rest.
I am curious, what's one thing you've stopped doing that made your business stronger?

๐ Honouring Dolly Partonโs Global Impact ๐
The world has lost a true legend with the passing of Dolly Parton at the age of 80. Renowned for her incredible musical talent and vibrant personality, Dolly was more than just a superstar; she was a trailblazer who broke barriers for women in the music industry and beyond.
As an astute businesswoman, Dolly shattered stereotypes and paved the way for future female artists, proving that success is defined by talent, hard work, and generosity. Her collaborations with a diverse range of artists not only enriched her music but also highlighted the importance of supporting one another in the industry. She brought other female performers into the spotlight, creating a legacy of empowerment and unity.
Dollyโs philanthropic work, particularly through the โImagination Libraryโ, showcases her unwavering commitment to literacy and education. What began in her home county in Tennessee in 1995 has grown into a global movement, providing free books to children from birth to age five. Here in Dundee, we have been fortunate to benefit from this initiative, launched in partnership with Charleston Community Library and local organizations like Leisure & Culture Dundee and Help For Kids.
Her vision was deeply personal, rooted in her fatherโs struggles with literacy. Dolly believed that every child deserves the opportunity to develop a love for reading, fostering a lifelong passion for learning and imagination.
Dollyโs story is one of determination, focus, and resilience. She faced countless โnoโsโ along her journey but never allowed them to deter her from her big dreams. She teaches us that with unwavering resolve, we can push through challenges and achieve our goals.
As we celebrate her extraordinary impact, let us draw inspiration from her life. Let her legacy remind us that kindness, perseverance, and a heart for others can break barriers and uplift those around us.
So, letโs honor Dolly by dreaming big, supporting one another, and never quitting on our aspirations.
Rest in peace, Dolly. Your spirit will forever light the way for future generations.

Whether you're negotiating with a client, a supplier, your team, or even at home, the goal shouldn't be to "win."
It should be to understand.
When you take the time to see the situation from someone else's perspective, everything changes. Trust grows. Conversations become easier. And finding a solution that works for everyone becomes much more likely.
That's the insight I shared in my latest Forbes Coaches Council article, alongside other incredible coaches exploring the qualities that make great negotiators.
I'd love to hear from you...

Uncertain times don't build leaders.
They reveal them.
When the economy shifts...
When the market changes...
When things don't go to plan...
Leadership isn't about pretending everything is fine, but about helping people believe there's a way forward.
I noticed that the businesses that continue to grow aren't always the biggest, but they're the ones led by people willing to adapt, communicate openly and make decisions with courage.
REMEMBER: Your team doesn't need perfection. They need leadership they can trust.
What's the most important leadership lesson you've learned through uncertainty?
23/08/2026
One of the biggest lessons I've learned in business...
When I first started coaching, I wanted to help every business owner I could.
Over time, I realised my greatest impact comes from working with leaders who are ready to grow, ready to scale, and ready to do the work.
The clearer I've become about who I serve, the greater the results have beenโfor both my clients and my business.
That's exactly what I shared in my latest Forbes Coaches Council article, alongside other coaches reflecting on how their ideal clients have evolved over time.
I'd love to ask you...
Has your ideal client changed since you started your business?

Do you struggle with delegation?
Then this might be for you.
We often think leaders struggle to delegate because they donโt know how to let go.
But sometimes, itโs not that simple.
If your value has always come from being neededโฆ
What happens when people stop needing you?
If you built your success by always having the answerโฆ
What happens when someone on your team knows more than you?
๐ If youโve always been the person holding everything togetherโฆ
What happens when the business can run perfectly well without you?
Thatโs why telling someone to โjust let goโ rarely works.
Because sometimes, the problem isnโt delegation.
Itโs identity.
Real leadership growth happens when your value stops being measured by how much depends on youโฆ
โฆand starts being measured by how capable, confident and empowered the people around you become.
Thatโs the shift from being needed to being a true leader.

I hate social media; Iโm not on the platforms, and itโs so hard to doโฆ So Iโm inconsistent and only post when I have to drive sales.โ
This was the start of a special coaching session today with a new client!
By the end of our first session, she said: โOK, this weekend Iโm going to take time to research what I can share about the area in my posts and commit to posting three times a week!โ
Not because I told her she must, but because we discussed her blocks and explored how to view the challenges differently. I helped her get excited about her NEW 3 CONTENT PILLARS!
Over the next month, sheโll participate in our Sales Pipeline Challenge, and I canโt wait to support and celebrate her progress! ๐
Business doesnโt need to be complicated. With guidance and accountability, anything can happen! ๐
