This weekend at The Newport Inn 🇲🇽🌮🌯🍸

We have the fabulous El Dorado Taqueria here all weekend!! Come along to Newps and get yourself some delicious Mexican Food Fri/Sat/Sun and perhaps wash it down with one of our famous Margaritas 🇲🇽🍸

Yesterday seen us on our travels to Dunipace.

It was a scrappy first half where the disco just couldn’t keep possession of the ball and we found ourselves 2-0 down at half time.

The 2nd half seen the Disco playing more like themselves with passing and movement which has brought the score back to 2-2.

With a Craig Moran strike and a Paul Lindsay wonder strike (we are still unsure if he meant it but he claims he did - good enough for me)

The disco kept pushing but despite controlling for large parts of the 2nd half and a Dunipace masterclass from the goal keeper; it just wasn’t meant to be for the boys today.

Dunipace grabbed a 3rd from us switching off and then the 4th goal was scored just before the end of the game.

All in all, loads of positives today against a very good team. As always I would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support!

Before the match report goes up in due course, everyone here at Dundee Discovery would like to take a minute to share our appreciation for the lads from Dunipace WPL Dunipace WPL Fan Page

As we posted earlier in the week, it marked 1 year since the tragic passing of our former player, teammate & most importantly, our friend Ben Colgan

Kev & the lads touched on this themselves in sharing our post & telling the wider audience of their ethos of brotherhood, player welfare & breaking the stigma surrounding men’s mental health.

And keeping with that theme, today on arrival, it was brought to us to ask if we would like to take a minute pre game in memory of Serge which we greatly accepted & the ‘Pace lads obliged with.

It was observed impeccably by players, officials & the spectators.

In a poignant moment before the battle begins, it’s a stark reminder there are bigger battles going on outwith those 90 mins on the pitch that we just don’t see.

An incredible gesture from an excellent football team, but more importantly, a great group of guys off the pitch.

So to Kev, McCann, & all those involved in the Dunipace set up……..thank you.

Rest easy Serge, you’re sorely missed 💔💙💛

Upcoming itinerary for over at The Newport Inn

A year ago since former player, friend to many and a genuine good person left us.

Ben Colgan (Serge) is still truly missed by all within the disco, community, his family and friends.

I’m going to take the opportunity as the admin of the discovery page. Always take the opportunity to check in on your mates whenever possible. The simple question of “are you alright mate” might sound stupid to you but could make a massive difference to someone else.

If you’re not feeling yourself and you’re feeling embarrassed about talking to your mates, you should know there’s nothing embarrassing about feeling low and needing someone to talk to.

Dundee discovery are on their travels this week after a disappointing result against the West. We’re looking to bounce back straight away and should have a full squad to select from this week.

The disco has a hard game upcoming in Dunipace. Dunipace were champions a few seasons ago so the lads should expect to come up against a well organised team.

We’ll be on the road early doors on Sunday morning with a kick off time of 11:30 at Dunipace football ground, Denny.
