Isn’t it funny when you’re thinking about something, suddenly it’s popping up everywhere?

This week we explored the theme of release and letting go. It’s not a revolution when it comes to yogic teaching, I mean it comes up a lot…. Especially at this time of year as we move towards autumn 🍂

Personally It got me thinking about perfectionism, it has a time and place, sure, but if it leads to suffering then it’s fair to say we could consider loosening our grip on it at least…

And as if by magic that’s what kept being brought to my attention… similar reflections.

reminding me that getting through certain things on a to do list could be enough.

A new account I came across I saw her pinned post on beige dinner being ok sometimes.

And the podcast I listened to this week and her guest talking about letting go of being good and allowing yourself to be good enough.

Thanks girls for the lessons / reminders. We all need them at times. 🙏🏻

🚨 WARNING: OUR CLASSES MAY RESULT IN AN HOUR WHERE NOBODY NEEDS ANYTHING FROM YOU. 😂

You do NOT need to be slim.
You do NOT need to be bendy.
You do NOT need expensive leggings.
And you definitely do NOT need to be able to put your foot behind your head.

Quite frankly, if you can do that, we have questions. 😂

Our ladies-only yoga classes are full of normal women with normal bodies who occasionally make strange noises when getting back up off the floor.

🤍 TRANQUIL YOGA

Basically an hour where nobody can ask you…

“Mum, where’s my charger?”
“What’s for dinner?”
“Have you seen my keys?”
“Where are my clean socks?”

Because you’ll be lying on a yoga mat in pretending none of them exist. 😌😂

Tuesday — 10:00
Wednesday — 18:30

🖤 YOGA SHRED

For those days when tranquillity isn’t enough and you’d quite like to take your frustrations out on your thighs.

Wednesday — 19:45
Thursday — 10:00

⚠️ Possible side effects include:

Walking downstairs like you’re 94.

Discovering muscles you didn’t know you owned.

Saying “OH LORD ” while trying to sit on the toilet the next morning.

And becoming suspiciously excited about going back next week. 😂

Ladies only. Beginner friendly. All shapes, sizes and fitness levels welcome.

Come as you are.

We promise nobody is judging your downward dog.

We’re all far too busy worrying about our own. 😂

Because 27 women arriving with yoga mats and saying “I saw it on Facebook” would give us a nervous breakdown. 😂

Sometimes it feels like we’re constantly adding to the to do list. I mean there’s always more that can be done, the real question has to be does it need to be done right now? Can it wait? Is a little steady progress good enough?

When we allow ourselves to be good enough rather than strive for perfection we make space, it’s a release of expectation, pressure the need to get it all done yesterday.

The let go doesn’t need to be big or dramatic, it can just be the recognition, maybe I don’t need to carry this anymore or right now.

What would give you the most breathing space right now?

Movement Monday 🧘‍♀️

How often do you think of Rooting as standing tall and strong. We hear it all the time, root to rise… I’m not saying that doesn’t have its place, because it does, but what if sometimes we let it be lying on the floor and feeling supported.

I’ve been enjoying this little movement recently, sometimes it’s called painting the floor.

Lie in constructive rest, feet grounded, about hip width apart. Spine neutral and supported on the floor, the back of your head lightly pressed to the ground.

Imaging then you are SLOWLY painting the floor with the back of your head, doodling if you will. Circles, swirls, tiny movement…

Nothing to achieve, no need to make it a big deep stretch, just time out to notice how your body feels…

That can be enough, as we learn we don’t always have to be holding ourselves up or all our sh** together…

That to me sounds like the perfect intention to start the week as we let go of holding on too tightly.

Make it a great week lovelies 🙏🏻

I know I’m not the only one who struggles with letting things go.

I mean, it’s memories, what if Aria misses it or wants /needs it again?

I made the mistake when she was tiny of re homing a toy microwave she hadn’t played with in ages and the next week she noticed… “where is it?”

The truth is I know we can’t keep everything nor should we. There’s more joy to be had when things move on. We’ve been gifted pre loved before and it brings so much happiness.

We naturally get attached to things, beliefs, people…

I used to feel attached to my yoga practice being 60 minutes, but there’s days I feel sluggish or don’t have an hour to dedicate. The smaller practices can land just as powerfully. The very wise Adriene Mishler often says a little goes a long way. She’s right!

So that’s my intention for this week.
I release what I no longer need.

What might you be ready to release?

No judgment if it’s no Lego 😂

Have a great week

It’s important to remember that protecting our peace doesn’t mean we stop caring for others…

We can love someone and still have boundaries

We can say no and still care

You can be supportive without taking responsibility for someone else’s feelings…

These little things we do to protect our peace can make us feel things like guilt, uncomfortable? Yes! Manageable? Absolutely.

It’s where we lean into uncomfortable moments on our mat that we can play with our ability to tolerate a certain amount of feeling uncomfortable whether that’s taking up space in mountain pose, feeling strong in boat or even wobbling in a balance.

Namaste 🙏🏻

Of course it’s important to stay informed, but maybe we don’t need to consume every bit of news.

We can care for people without taking on all their problems.

We can listen to someone without making their opinion ours or feeling disconnected because we disagree.

You can acknowledge a difficult thought, without believing everything it tells you.

We don’t need to hide from life, to protect our peace.

But being intentional with what we give our attention and energy to certainty can help us.
🙏🏻

Some days we just don’t have the fuel in the tank to push harder or faster.

This little glow allows you to slow down, to move gently in a bid to notice what your body is telling you.

No need to judge or analyse, just notice and offer it some gratitude for all it does for you.

That’s enough for today 🙏🏻
