Dunbar Primary Claim East Lothian Badminton Quaich Title in 2026
Active Schools Report - The P5–P7 East Lothian Primary Schools Badminton Quaich Tournament was held on Friday 27 March 2026 at Meadowmill Sports Centre, bringing together young badminton players from across the county for a day of competitive action.
Dunbar Primary School emerged as overall winners following a closely fought round robin competition, securing the Quaich after strong and consistent performances across all disciplines. Law Primary School finished as runners up, with Gullane Primary School, Yester Primary School, and East Linton Primary School also taking part.
Each school competed against one another in a full programme of events, including:
• Boys’ Singles
• Girls’ Singles
• Boys’ Doubles
• Girls’ Doubles
• Mixed Doubles
This wide range of disciplines ensured a balanced and challenging competition throughout the day, testing both individual skill and teamwork.
The tournament was coordinated by Active Schools in partnership with East Lothian Badminton Representatives, with valuable support from the local badminton community. Special thanks were extended to Duncan Campbell of Dunbar Badminton Club for organising the match schedules, and to Lynda Lamb, who efficiently managed the results table throughout the event. Appreciation was also given to Rita Yuan Gao, who attended on behalf of Badminton Scotland.
A significant contribution was made by five Preston Lodge pupils and two Knox Academy pupils, who volunteered their time to umpire during three hours of match play, helping the tournament run smoothly and providing excellent role models for the younger players.
Organisers thanked all players, officials, and volunteers for their involvement and enthusiasm, and look forward to welcoming schools back for the tournament next year.
