💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
And just like that, we’ve reached the final dancer in our Memory Lane for this year… and what a lovely one to finish with. 🥹💜
We’ve absolutely loved looking back over the last 13 years and hearing from so many of our past dancers — finding out where life has taken them and, most importantly, hearing just how many special memories and lifelong friendships were created inside our studio. 🩰✨
💜 SIXTEENTH & FINAL — BLAIR BELL 💜
Here’s what Blair had to say…
“Hi, I’m Blair Bell and I am 14 years old. 💕
I started at Danceworks with Miss Rachael when I was just 2 years old and I had the best ever time there. I have so many fabulous memories — making friends, doing shows, panto at DGOne and exams, which I loved. 🩰
I remember during Covid, Miss Rachael used to teach us over Zoom by dancing in her kitchen 😂 and I will never forget how she kept my dancing going during that time.
I loved every class and Miss Charli and Miss Robyn are such amazing teachers too. ❤️
I left Danceworks in 2024 to move to Glasgow full-time to attend The Dance School of Scotland and pursue my dream of becoming a professional ballerina. 🩰✨
I hope to audition when I am 16 for further education in dance and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Living away from home for dance is hard, but coming back to Danceworks to watch the show and see the teachers feels like seeing family.
It will always feel like home. 💜”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
And what a perfect dancer to finish our Memory Lane with. 🥹🩰
I started teaching Blair when she was just 2 years old, so I have quite literally watched her grow up in front of me — from a tiny little ballerina taking her first steps in the studio to a beautiful, dedicated young dancer now training full-time in Glasgow. 💜
Even from a young age, Blair absolutely loved ballet. She was one of those children who soaked up every correction, loved her exams and just wanted to learn. Her dedication and determination were always there, and as she grew older it became very clear that dancing wasn’t simply a hobby for Blair — this was her dream. 🩰✨
And yes… the Covid memories! 😂 Never did I imagine when I opened Danceworks that one day I’d be teaching ballet from my kitchen over Zoom! But keeping our dancers dancing and connected during that time was so important to me, and knowing Blair remembers those classes so fondly makes all those crazy kitchen lessons completely worth it. 🥹
Watching Blair leave Danceworks at just 12 years old to move away from home and train full-time at The Dance School of Scotland was such a proud moment. It takes an incredible amount of courage, maturity and dedication to make that commitment at such a young age, and she continues to make us incredibly proud. ❤️
Blair still has such an exciting journey ahead of her. Her dream is to become a professional ballerina, and I truly cannot wait to see where her talent and determination take her next. 🩰
But perhaps the part of Blair’s message that means the most to me is hearing that coming back to Danceworks still feels like coming home. 🥹💜 Because no matter where our dancers go, what they achieve or how many years pass, I always want them to know that these doors are open and their Danceworks family will always be here cheering them on.
Blair, keep working hard, keep dreaming big and most importantly, keep loving what you do. We are all so incredibly proud of you. 💜
✨ And that brings our 13th Birthday Memory Lane to an end! ✨
From nurses, teachers and radiographers to dancers, performers, business owners and those still chasing their dreams — reading these stories has made me incredibly emotional and proud.
Danceworks has never just been about teaching children to dance. It’s about confidence, friendships, memories, opportunities and giving every child a place where they feel they belong.
To every dancer who has walked through our doors over the last 13 years — whether you stayed for a few months or grew up with us — you are part of the Danceworks story. 💜
Here’s to the next generation making their own memories right now… and maybe appearing on our Memory Lane in another 13 years! 🥹🩰✨
Once a Danceworks dancer, always a Danceworks dancer. 💜

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
💜 FIVENTEENTH UP — KATY ELLIOT 💜
Here’s what Katy had to say…
“Hi, I’m Katy! I was a student at Danceworks for well over 10 years, and they were honestly some of the best years of my life! 💜
I took part in every dance class you could think of 🤣 but my personal favourites would have to have been Ballet and, of course, Musical Theatre! 🩰🎤
I left Danceworks once I finished school and headed off to university to do my training and become a Registered Nurse. 👩🏼⚕️❤️
Everyone at Danceworks was family and I’ve made some of the best friendships with people who I know I’ll be friends with for life!
I still love going back every year to help backstage at the shows — not that I get much choice! 🤣 — and I’m so grateful for everything Danceworks has taught me. 🫶🏻
I’m most excited to now watch my niece grow up dancing in the shows, as she’s just started baby ballet! 🥹🩷”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Oh Katy… where do I start! 😂💜 Another girl who spent SO many years growing up within our Danceworks family and who really did throw herself into just about every class we had to offer!
Katy was always such a character in the studio and brought plenty of laughs along the way. Musical Theatre was definitely made for her — she was never afraid to perform, get into character and give us plenty of entertainment! 🤣🎤 But she was also a beautiful ballet dancer and worked incredibly hard throughout all her years with us and in all styles.🩰
One of the loveliest things about Danceworks for me is seeing the friendships that started as little girls in dance classes still going strong years later. You will often find Katy, Regan & Megan still joined at the hip or if you’re lucky you may see them out on the town.😂
Katy was part of such a special group who grew up together, spending night after night in the studio, countless shows backstage together and creating memories and friendships that have lasted well beyond their dancing years. 🥹❤️
I’m so proud that Katy went on to university and is now a Registered Nurse. 👩🏼⚕️ It’s been amazing watching so many of our dancers take the confidence, commitment and determination they learnt through dance into completely different careers and absolutely thrive.
And despite hanging up her own dance shoes, Katy hasn’t managed to escape Danceworks completely… 😂 She still comes back every year to help us backstage at our shows/exams— and she is absolutely right, she doesn’t get much choice! 🤣 Once you’re part of the Danceworks team, there’s no getting away that easily!
But perhaps the most special part is that everything is now coming full circle, with Katy’s little niece beginning her own Danceworks journey in baby ballet. 🥹🩰🩷 I can’t wait for the day Katy is standing backstage helping at the show and watching her own niece perform on that stage!
Katy, thank you for all the years of memories, laughter and for still being there whenever we need you. I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved and I love that Danceworks continues to be part of your life. 💜
Once a Danceworks girl, always a Danceworks girl! 🩰✨

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
As we continue celebrating 13 years of Danceworks Studio, we’re taking another trip down memory lane and catching up with some of the dancers who have been such a special part of our journey. 🥹🩰
💜 FOURTEENTH UP — EILIDH FRANCIS 💜
Here’s what Eilidh had to say…
“I joined Danceworks back in 2013 when it first opened its doors, and during my time there Rachael pushed me and gave me the opportunity to go on to attend Junior Associate programmes at both Scottish Ballet and Ballet West while I was still at Danceworks. 🩰✨
Showtime was always the highlight of the year! Although it was stressful for us — never being off the stage definitely made it challenging for all of us 🤣 — but it was truly worth it!
I left Danceworks in 2018 to follow my dream and start my Musical Theatre journey at GAMTA Junior School. 🎭
I went on to study on the three-year course at GAMTA and graduated in 2023. I then moved to London for a year, where I took countless classes and had the opportunity to work with some amazing choreographers, while also teaching at a little school down there.
I completed my first professional contract in a pantomime in Billingham 🎭✨ and now I’m back in Glasgow studying Sports Therapy, which I’m super passionate about. ❤️”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Eilidh was one of those dancers who could turn her hand to absolutely every genre of dance. She performed like there was no tomorrow and had the ability to capture an audience’s attention no matter what style she was performing. ✨
I will never forget taking Eilidh for private lessons for her Grade 1 Ballet exam. I remember watching her perform her spring exercise and genuinely thinking, “WOW… this girl has the most amazing legs and control I’ve ever seen for her age!” 🥹🩰
From then on, it was so lovely watching her talent continue to develop. Eilidh completed all of her ballet grades with me before leaving for GAMTA, achieving amazing results along the way. Her beautiful technique, performance quality and natural ability were always something very special.
I was incredibly proud to help encourage Eilidh to take the next step in her training and see her successfully attend Junior Associate programmes with both Scottish Ballet and Ballet West. Watching our dancers take opportunities outside of the studio and seeing their confidence grow is something I will always be so proud of. 💜
And then came showtime… 😂 Eilidh was quite literally never off the stage! From one quick change to another, she would be straight back out performing again — but she absolutely thrived on it. No matter how tired she was, when she stepped onto that stage she gave everything she had.
Watching Eilidh leave Danceworks to pursue her Musical Theatre training was bittersweet, but I always knew she was ready for that next chapter. To then see her graduate from GAMTA, move to London, continue her training, teach other young dancers and secure her first professional performance contract has been wonderful to watch. 🎭✨
And now another exciting chapter begins as she studies Sports Therapy in Glasgow. ❤️
Eilidh, you were such a special part of those early Danceworks years and I am incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. Keep that same determination, passion and incredible performance quality that you had as that little Grade 1 ballerina — I can’t wait to see where life takes you next. 🥹💜

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
As we continue celebrating 13 years of Danceworks Studio, we’re taking another trip down memory lane and catching up with some of the dancers who have been such a special part of our journey. 🥹🩰
💜 THIRTEENTH UP — COURTNEY THORPE 💜
Here’s what Courtney had to say…
“Hi, I’m Courtney! 💕
I started Danceworks Studio 13 years ago as one of the very first students. From the beginning, I did every class on offer. I spent every day after school at the studio, either dancing or assisting Miss Rachael. 🩰
My favourite class was Performance as we got to try so many different styles, but my favourite thing about dancing was the friendships I made and all the time I got to spend with my friends. ❤️
Showtime and panto season were always a highlight for me as I loved singing, dancing and performing in front of an audience. 🎭✨
I now have a Degree in Dance and a Degree in Primary Teaching. 👩🏫
I’ve continued to be involved with dance and now have a dance school and baton twirling club with one of my dancing besties, Abbie, in Lockerbie. I also work as a Primary Teacher.
I always try to watch and support the Danceworks shows each year.
Congratulations Miss Rachael on 13 fab years! 💜”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Courtney is a VERY special part of the Danceworks story because she holds a title that nobody else can ever take away from her… Courtney was the FIRST student to ever sign up to Danceworks Studio! 🥹💜
From the moment we opened our doors 13 years ago, Courtney was there. In fact, she practically lived at the studio! 😂 She would come straight from school, take every class she possibly could and, when she wasn’t dancing herself, she was right by my side helping me with classes.
She became Danceworks’ very first student assistant, and even back then I could see that teaching and dance were going to play a huge part in her future. ❤️
One thing I will always remember about Courtney was that there was simply no such thing as a rehearsal to her. 😂 Whether we were doing a warm-up, corner work, turns, kicks or performing on a stage, Courtney went FULL OUT every single time! She danced as though there were hundreds of people watching her, even when it was just another normal night in the studio. That work ethic, determination and love of performing were so special to watch.
So it really comes as no surprise that Courtney went on to gain a Degree in Dance, followed by a Degree in Primary Teaching. 🥹👏
And one of the things that makes me incredibly proud is seeing her now running her own dance and baton twirling school, Motiv8, in Lockerbie alongside another former Danceworks girl and one of her dancing besties, Abbie. 💕✨
Courtney and Abbie always worked so well together growing up, so knowing they are now passing their love of dance and performance on to the next generation is incredibly special. Their school has gone from strength to strength, and I absolutely love following their page and seeing all the success their dancers and twirlers are having. The children at Motiv8 really are in the best hands with these two! 🥹💜
And I think one of my favourite full-circle moments has to be when our current dancers walk through the studio doors and announce, “Miss Thorpe was my teacher at school today!” 😂❤️ It makes me realise just how many years have passed, but also how wonderful it is to see our past dancers now inspiring the same children we teach today.
Courtney, from being student number ONE, to my first student assistant, to gaining two degrees, becoming a Primary Teacher and now running your own successful school… I could not be prouder of you. 🥹
Thank you for being there right from the very beginning and for continuing to support Danceworks all these years later. You will always be such a special part of our story. 💜

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
💜 TWELFTH UP — RACHAEL YOUNG…
OR SHOULD WE SAY, THE NEWLYWED MRS RACHAEL PILKINGTON! 👰🏼♀️💍🤍
Here’s what Rachael had to say…
“I joined Danceworks Studio when the doors first opened 13 years ago, but had been taught by Miss Rachael for maybe around 6 years beforehand.
Dance was always my thing, my time to escape after school, meet my lovely friends that I danced with, and just have so many laughs (even if sometimes we were told to be quiet!! 🤣).
I did all the classes possible and have so many happy memories, like doing my first one-handed cartwheel! Even though I could never quite manage the splits, my high kicks and doing the worm were always brought out in dances… and maybe even to this day the worm still makes an appearance on the dance floor! 🤣🕺🏼
After naturally leaving Danceworks when I moved to uni in Edinburgh, dance had given me such a grounding to join the university dance club. I spent 5 years making amazing friends, teaching some classes, being the Jazz Captain, competing across the country and have many a funny story to tell!
Dance gave me the confidence to take that step and join the club, and my university experience was made because of that. ❤️
Now 27, I live in Edinburgh and work day-to-day as a Project Manager. Although I don’t dance like I used to, my focus is now on the gym, where I can stay active like I used to with dance.
Dancing holds so many happy memories in my heart, and the one thing I would say to anyone who is wanting to join is that even though everyone in the studio has different strengths — mine was Jazz & Street style dances — everyone in the dance studio shares that same love for dancing and that really is so special.
Don’t compare yourself to anyone in the room.
Danceworks helped me grow my confidence, find my sparkle, and really has had a huge impact on my life. 🤍”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Another one of my original girls! 🥹 Rachael was with me long before the doors of Danceworks even opened, so we have A LOT of years, memories and laughs together! 💜
And when Rachael says they sometimes had to be told to be quiet… I can absolutely confirm this! 😂🙈 That group of girls could TALK, but my goodness did we have some fun!
Rachael was always full of personality and sparkle, and give her a Jazz or Street routine where she could get those high kicks out and she was in her element! And yes, I can also confirm that the worm featured on more than one occasion! 🤣
One of the things that makes me most proud is knowing that when Rachael left us for university, dance didn’t stop there. She had the confidence to walk into a brand-new dance club, make new friends, compete, teach and even become Jazz Captain. That’s exactly what I hope Danceworks gives our dancers — not just steps and routines, but the confidence to walk into new chapters of their lives and believe that they belong there. 🥹❤️
Now she’s living in Edinburgh, working as a Project Manager and, most importantly, has recently become Mrs Pilkington! 👰🏼♀️💍🤍 A huge congratulations again to the beautiful newlyweds!
I also absolutely LOVE Rachael’s advice to our current dancers — don’t compare yourself to anyone else in the room. Everyone has their own strengths, their own sparkle and their own journey. That message couldn’t sum up Danceworks any better. 💜
Rachael, it has been an absolute privilege watching you grow from one of my little dancers into the confident, wonderful woman you are today. I’m so proud of you and everything you’ve achieved — and please never stop bringing out that worm on the dance floor! 😂🕺🏼

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
💜 ELEVENTH UP — BETH ALLEN 💜
Here’s what Beth had to say…
“Happy 13th Birthday, Danceworks! 🤍
Looking back at old dancing photos brings back so many amazing memories. ✨
Rachael has been part of my dance journey since I was around 9 years old, long before Danceworks even opened. She was the teacher who made me fall in love with dance and, more importantly, helped me grow in confidence. I’ll always be so grateful for that and even now… I still feel like I need to call her Miss Rachael 😂💕
My years at Danceworks were some of my happiest. I loved every class, every show, the friendships I made, the laughs we had and all the memories we created together.
I am now a Primary Teacher. 👩🏫 I qualified in 2022 from the University of Glasgow and I’ve been teaching in Dumfries for the last four years. It’s even come full circle as I’ve had the privilege of teaching Rachael’s nephew, Luca! ❤️
Thank you for everything, and here’s to many more years of Danceworks creating wonderful memories for so many children. 🩰”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Beth is another one who holds such a special place in my heart because our journey together started before Danceworks was even a dream! 🥹💜
I started teaching Beth when she was around 9 years old, so to think that all these years later I’m writing about her as part of our 13th birthday celebrations is really quite emotional!
Beth was always such a beautiful dancer, but one of the things I remember most is watching her confidence grow over the years. She was such a kind, lovely girl to have in class and brought so many laughs and happy memories to the studio. ❤️
I absolutely love seeing where our dancers’ lives take them, and I’m incredibly proud that Beth is now a Primary Teacher, helping and inspiring children every single day. 👩🏫✨
And the fact that she has gone on to teach my nephew Luca really does make everything feel like it has come full circle! 🥹❤️ Luca absolutely loves her just as much as we do, and it’s so special knowing that someone who was such a big part of my dance journey is now playing a part in his school journey too. 💕
Beth, thank you for being part of my teaching journey for so many years — from before Danceworks began and through so many special years at the studio. I’m so proud of the wonderful young woman you have become.
And yes… no matter how old you all get, I think I’ll forever be Miss Rachael! 😂💜

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
💜 TENTH UP — MAYA WINDSOR 💜
Here’s what Maya had to say…
“Hi, I’m Maya and I was at Danceworks from the very first day it opened until I finished last year and, unfortunately, had to hang up my dance shoes. 😢🩰
My time at Danceworks is something I could never forget! So many memories, friends made, laughs and a couple of tears… good ones though! 🙈
One of my favourite memories is when Ellie and I made up a duo dance for one of the competitions at dance camp and we were chosen to perform it in the show that year! We could not contain our excitement as we had always hoped to have a duet in the show! (See reaction picture below 😂)
Something else I won’t forget is how, over all the years I had been dancing, I begged for a teacher dance and for my final show they made my dreams come true! Still not too sure to this day if Miss Robyn or Miss Charli were happy about this 🤣, but it definitely made me happy and it’s something I don’t think many people could forget! 🕺🏼
I enjoyed every class but I always had a soft spot for ballet 🩰. I dreamt of being a ballerina since before I can remember! I also knew I was never going to be brilliant at musical theatre as I lacked something in that department… a good singing voice 😬🤣
Now, I’m working at Yopa and training to be an estate agent! 🏡 You might see me on social media showing houses in D&G 👀
I certainly would not be as confident or independent as I am today if it wasn’t for Miss Rachael and the Danceworks family. 🥹 I was always pushed to do my best and, of course, given plenty of experience on the stage! 🤣❤️”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Maya really is a special one because she was there right from the very beginning of Danceworks. 🥹💜 To think that little girl who walked through our doors in our very first year stayed with us all the way until last year is incredibly special to me.
I have literally watched Maya grow up in the studio, and there are SO many memories and laughs along the way. She was always such a character and anyone who knows Maya will know she certainly wasn’t afraid to keep asking for something until she got it… hence the teacher dance! 😂🙈 I think Miss Charli and Miss Robyn may still be recovering from that one!
Maya’s love for ballet was always clear and she worked so hard throughout her years with us. But beyond the dancing, it has been lovely watching her grow in confidence and independence and seeing the friendships she made at Danceworks continue beyond the studio. 💜
From being one of our original Danceworks girls to now training to become an estate agent and confidently appearing on social media showing homes across D&G — I couldn’t be prouder of the young woman she has become. 🏡🥹
Maya, thank you for being such a huge part of the Danceworks journey from the very beginning. There will always be a place for you here… although I can’t promise another teacher dance anytime soon! 🤣💜
Number eleven coming next… 👀💜

💜✨ DANCEWORKS MEMORY LANE ✨💜
💜 NINTH UP — ELLIE MAXWELL 💜
Here’s what Ellie had to say…
“Hey, it’s wee Ellie! 🙈💖
I started dancing in this amazing and lovely studio with Miss Rachael when I was 7 years old and I loved absolutely every second of it! ☺️🫶
It all started when Miss Rachael encouraged me to audition for Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime. If you had told me at that age that I’d not only be accepted onto the show, but then go on to achieve lots of ballet exams, take part in once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, but most importantly make the bestest friends for life and gain confidence I never thought I had — I seriously wouldn’t have believed you! 🙈
And it was all thanks to Miss Rachael for believing in me and encouraging me when she did, which is something I’ll forever be grateful for!!
Some of the best memories were made together in that studio and it has been amazing to see the dedication and support Miss Rachael, Miss Charli and Miss Robyn put into each and every dancer. 💖💖 (And yes, we all still call yous ‘Miss’ at 20-odd years old 🙈).
I then left the studio when I was 18 to move to university, which I have just recently graduated from to become a Radiographer! 🎓❤️
My favourite memories have to be backflipping every chance I got, all the laughs and nervous giggles backstage during shows and before a ballet exam, and now being able to say ‘I’ve done a dance to that!’ to almost every song possible 🤣
Forever grateful for my Danceworks family and I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without them all! ☺️🫶💖”
💜 A little note from Miss Rachael…
Oh, our wee Ellie! 🥹💖 And yes, she will probably always be “wee Ellie” to me no matter how old she gets!
I can still remember encouraging that little 7-year-old girl to audition for Jack and the Beanstalk, and watching her confidence grow from there has been such a privilege. From ballet exams and shows to countless backflips 🤣, Ellie threw herself into everything and became such a huge part of our Danceworks family.
Ellie was always full of fun and brought so much laughter into the studio. Some of my favourite memories are of Ellie and the girls growing up together, sharing all those backstage moments, exam nerves, shows and opportunities — and creating friendships that have lasted long after their dancing days. 💜
To now see that little girl I taught at 7 years old graduate from university as a Radiographer makes me unbelievably proud. 🎓🥹 It’s crazy how quickly the years go!
And I absolutely LOVE that our past dancers still call us “Miss” 😂 I don’t think that will ever change!
Ellie, you’ll always have a special place in the Danceworks family and I’m so proud of the wonderful young woman you’ve become. Keep doing those backflips whenever you get the chance! 😂💜
Number ten coming next… 👀💜
27/08/2026

🧚♀️ OUR PRIMARY TOOTH FAIRIES 🦷✨
One of our favourite themes this week has definitely been our Primary dancers becoming very important Tooth Fairies!
We worked on our beautiful fairy arms, sparkly pointed toes and perfected our balance positions — just in case a child suddenly woke up while we were collecting their tooth! 🤫🧚♀️
We even used a little bit of Tooth Fairy magic to turn a tooth into a magic coin… although I’m pretty sure every dancer wanted to take it home to buy a toy or some sweets! 😂🥰
🐻❤️ PADDINGTON HAS ARRIVED! ❤️🐻
Tonight our P3/4 Musical Theatre students began their Paddington-themed classes and WOW… what a success!
The smiles, enthusiasm and those BIG singing voices absolutely wowed Miss Robyn and me. 🎭🎶
We have lots planned for this group and we can’t wait to share their Paddington journey with you over the next few weeks! 🧳🐻✨
What a way to start our new term. 💜
Week One complete… and we already can’t wait for Week Two! 🩰🎭✨
