Built on sand but designed for all seasons. ☀️🌧️
One of the greatest strengths of a true coastal links is its ability to handle whatever the Scottish weather throws at it. Thanks to deep sand subsoil, our fairways remain firm, fast-running, and trolley-friendly throughout the entire year.
When heavy rain leaves inland courses waterlogged, the turf at Southerness drains effortlessly, offering pure, mud-free strike conditions 12 months a year. There is no off-season on the Solway Coast. Just proper golf, whenever you choose to play.

More than just a championship layout. 🌿🦅
The links at Southerness sit within a thriving coastal ecosystem, making a round here just as memorable for its natural scenery as it is for the golf.
From rare plant species in the rough to migratory birds sweeping in off the Solway Firth, the natural backdrop is just as memorable as the golf itself. It is a rare privilege to play a course where natural conservation and championship golf co-exist so seamlessly.
Next time you are out on the course, keep an eye out for the local wildlife!

No artificial tricks, no gimmicks. Just pure, natural championship links golf. ⛳
Designed by Philip Mackenzie Ross, the layout at Southerness uses natural coastal contours, deep strategic bunkering, and the Solway tide to defend par. It is a proper test that demands smart play and solid ball striking from the 1st tee right through to the 18th green.
