Match Report ⚽️

Today we travelled to Ayr for a tough test against a very well-organised and physical Ayr Boswell side.

It was a highly competitive game from the first whistle. The boys found it difficult to get the ball moving in the early stages and, unfortunately, conceded two early goals before starting to settle into the game.

As the match went on, we began to show glimpses of the football we’ve been working on in training. The boys started moving the ball better, showing more confidence and putting together some good passages of play.

We struggled to create a huge number of chances, but the opportunities we did create unfortunately didn’t find the back of the net. A late goal from Ayr Boswell sealed the result.

⭐ Man of the Match – Keir

Another fantastic Man of the Match performance from Keir 👏🏻

Keir put in a brilliant shift, making some great last-ditch tackles and showing real determination throughout. He took on board all the advice given at half-time and came out in the second half with a real purpose, taking control and doing a fantastic job organising the back three. 💪🏻

A hard day at the office for the boys, but plenty to learn from. We dust ourselves down, get back to training this week and keep working on the things we know we can do better.

Heads up, boys — we move on and get back to it! 💪🏻⚽️

⚫️⚪️🟠 Heston Rovers 2015s Match Report⚫️⚪️🟠

An early start this morning for the Heston 2015s as we welcomed Mids to St Joes 3G.

A slow start saw Heston enjoy plenty of possession but struggle to find that final pass. After going 1-0 down against the run of play, the boys started to move the ball much better, creating plenty of chances and scoring some lovely, well-worked goals.

A comfortable win in the end, but credit to Mids who worked hard throughout and defended well.

Today’s awards weren’t an easy decision for the coaches, with a few boys putting in great performances this morning.

⭐ Keir — rock solid at the back, excellent passing and strong in the tackle. A really composed performance.

⭐ Ethan — an electric performance, showing his speed and passing ability and capping it off with a fantastic hat-trick! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Back into training this week before an away day to Ayr Boswell to look forward to next weekend.

Boys continued their transition to 9s with a match against our local neighbours Lochar Thistle on Sunday.

Summer had eventually arrived and considering the heat the boys energy levels were brilliant from the start to finish.

Again some of the passing was nice and sharp and showing they are taking on board what is being asked of them at training,some good passing movements led to some cracking team goals.

Each week we are now noticing the boys holding their shape better and slowly but surely getting to grips with throw ins and offside.

All round good performance from the lads, two very well deserved players of the match in Liam and Roddy,who worked hard both with and without the ball,well done lads!

Next week we move to our last 7s festival at Caledonian before a very well deserved summer break.

This morning we headed through to Lockerbie to take on Mids.

We got off to the perfect start with an early goal, but then dropped away from our usual energetic passing game. We struggled to really get going in the second period, not quite reaching the standards the boys have set for themselves.

The third period saw a much better performance, with improved energy levels and some good passing football that looked more like the team we know.
All that being said,yet another great result for the boys 👏🏻

A big well done to Josh and Danny, who picked up our Player of the Match awards. Both boys were very consistent throughout, worked hard for the team, and fully deserved their recognition. 👏🏆

Tonight we took another big step in our transition to 9-a-side football, and the boys delivered.

We stepped up against our own heston rovers 2014s Whites side, and our young team battled brilliantly against a bigger, stronger opposition. We got the ball down, moved it with real purpose, and scored some fantastic, well-worked goals.

With a few 9-a-side games now under our belts, we’re starting to see clear patterns of play develop, along with a growing understanding of what we’re asking the boys to do. Their progress is there for everyone to see.

We’re incredibly proud of the boys. ⚫️⚪️🟠

But we don’t stop now…

Back at it on Sunday with a trip to face Mids in Lockerbie . 💪🏻💪🏻
