Toe Poke Football

Hi There is only so much you can do via social media when you are promoting something you believe in. Toe Poke CIC has been set up to create new clothes for Scotland fans and if and when it makes profit to put money back into youth football in Dumfries and the work of supporters direct Scotland. Last week I spent four days chatting to businesses in Dumfries and Moffat and handing out 100s of fliers to Scotland fans before the Norway game in Glasgow.

My friend Claire helped in Glasgow and we had a great time, so many people were supportive and interested in toe poke. Claire is wearing the Clemence’s Day is Complete design which is a fun take on beating England in 1976 with Kenny Dalglish scoring the winning goal v England.

Congratulations Scotland!! It’s brilliant that our national Team has qualified for the 2024 Euros!! Here is the toe poke team waiting for ticket news lol!! Well Tuesday night was sobering. But England are a fine side and four or five years ahead of us in this cycle of development. I do love Jude Bellingham he is going to be regarded as the world’s best player apart from Mbappe very soon.

Ally McCoist, what a scamp, playing to his English and Rangers audiences with his comments on the tartan army booing God Save the King. I have a lot of time for McCoist but keep following the money Ally.

There are only two ways to avoid disappointment if you’re going to a game and your team loses. To football fans across Scotland I hope you enjoy the new league season that starts this evening as much as possible. There’s something special about the first few games, played on immaculate pitches. Some of us may even be optimistic about our Club’s chances!! The growth of the women’s game is a really positive trend that I hope continues. A special shout out to Arabs, we’ve sold out our 3200 allocation of tickets for tonight’s match. That’s bloody impressive!!!

In the wonderful football book, 'The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro', the story of the tiny football club from Italy's south that made it to Serie B in the 1990s, and were followed for a season by the renowned investigative journalist Joe McGinniss, the put upon manager would often say, 'la stagione e lungo e duro' - the season is long and hard! The team were under-resourced and there were mafia figures in the background.

The football season is long and hard, too long and bloody hard on fans and players. Huge credit to all the Scotland fans in Norway for the match this evening.

The launch of Toe Poke CIC and clothes has been very well received. There is huge goodwill for this venture, thank you. More clothes ranges will be added to the website soon, and we have some brilliant design ideas in progress for the Autumn, and to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Scotland v England international. The theme will be love England the country and its brilliant culture, landscapes and people (except some obnoxious politicians), but lets gub them at football.
