All classes back on this week π₯
We offer sessions for both recreational boxers and competitive boxers.
There is no pressure at the club to compete or spar. We understand most people box for fitness, strength and enjoyment.
We set things up this way because it allows us to work with everyone who wants to box, whether they want to compete or not, while setting a higher standard for those who choose to become competitive boxers.
On that note, all carded boxers and anyone with the aim of competing in the sport please be aware;
Our ambitions in the sport are high. As a club, our aim is to produce champions.
For our carded boxers, or anyone looking to compete, our minimum standard is set:
π₯ At least 3 boxing sessions per week
ποΈ At least 1 strength session per week
π At least 1 conditioning session per week
Although we highly recommend 4 boxing sessions, 2 strength sessions (resistance/weights) and 2 conditioning sessions (runs, air bikes etc.) per week.
This season we will only allow boxers to compete if they are meeting this standard of training.
Being a competitive boxer requires sacrifice and discipline.
Scottish amateur boxing is a high level game. You need to be doing as much, if not more, than your opponents if you want to step into the ring, be confident and give yourself the best chance of doing well in the sport.
Our coaches have families and kids of their own and give up their weeknights and whole weekends to coach and travel to sparring and competitions. We are happy to invest our time into boxers who are willing to invest the time in themselves.
If you want to compete, the standard is the standard. No excuses.
We aren't here to chase boxers and make sure you're putting the work in. The only way you're going to do well in this sport is if you push yourself and put the work in.
We set the path. We guide you along the way. We offer everything you need to become a champion. But ultimately, you're the one who needs to show up and put the work in. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can do it for you. π₯
